The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mentagawa shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Vasserman manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Vasserman drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Mentagawa dives on top into guard.

Mentagawa drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Vasserman manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Mentagawa has Vasserman in his guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close round but I would say that Hans Mentagawa will probably get the nod.

Mentagawa wants to get up but he can't break Vasserman's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Vasserman takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Mentagawa has hold of Vasserman's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Vasserman manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Mentagawa is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Vasserman with him. Vasserman is trying to defend but Mentagawa has an arm under the chin now! Vasserman grimaces and is forced to tap out!
