PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Harvey Glenn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pedro Martinez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Martinez is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Control Machete - Comprendes Mendes. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Harvey Glenn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Pedro Martinez!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Sosuke Kotani and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Martinez with that takedown attempt.

Martinez shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Glenn manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Martinez stops Glenn from standing up.

Glenn avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Glenn preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Glenn wriggles free and stands up.
Martinez misses with the combination.

and Glenn counters with a takedown into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Martinez tries to strike from the bottom but misses.
Martinez tries to buck Glenn off but Glenn is having none of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Glenn working away.
Glenn lands some shots froms side control.
Martinez on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Glenn is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Martinez will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Martinez wants to control but Glenn postures up.
Martinez tries to improve position but can't.
Glenn takes a little break here. Martinez wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Martinez takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Glenn is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Martinez knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Glenn landing strikes.
Martinez should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Glenn blocks the strikes from Martinez.
Martinez is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Glenn is controlling him well.
Glenn controls the position from side control.
Glenn cracks Martinez with a big right hand but Martinez just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Martinez manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Martinez can do anything to dispel that myth.
Martinez gets full guard.

Glenn is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Glenn slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Glenn avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Martinez looks winded!
Martinez can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Glenn controls the pace.
Glenn won't allow Martinez to sweep him here.
Glenn content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Glenn has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Glenn makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Glenn lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Martinez controls Glenn momentarily but Glenn frees himself.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Glenn slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Harvey Glenn dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Glenn lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Martinez tries to work over Glenn's front leg with a kick but Glenn checks it.
A looping hook to the body misses from Martinez. Glenn does a little dance to reset his feet.
Martinez looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Glenn blocks a leg kick.
Martinez lands a front kick.
Glenn fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Martinez avoids it really well and circles away.

Martinez clinches with his opponent.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Glenn pulls guard successfully.
Glenn wants to stand and escape but Martinez is having none of it.
Glenn not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Martinez controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Martinez working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Glenn's head.
Martinez prevents Glenn from getting back to his feet.

Glenn looking for a triangle here. Martinez is fighting it but it looks tight! Glenn pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Martinez is tapping out - this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Harvey Glenn!
