PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Darnell Klutie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Ytlear (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ytlear is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Necrophobic - The Third Antichrist. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Darnell Klutie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, James Ytlear!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Vladimir Khabensky and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Klutie takes the fight into the clinch.
Klutie lands a knee to the head.
Klutie lands a nice elbow.
Klutie stalling.
Ytlear fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Klutie lands a nice uppercut.
Ytlear wants a takedown but no success here.
Klutie lands an elbow that stopped Ytlear in his tracks for a moment.

Klutie has hold of one of Ytlear's legs. Ytlear is fighting the takedown attempt but Klutie gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Ytlear pulls Klutie in close to prevent any damage.
Ytlear keeping moving, preventing Klutie from controlling successfully.

Ytlear escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Klutie gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Ytlear manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Ytlear looking to control and managing it successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ytlear throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Klutie tries to get back to half guard but can't.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Ytlear content just to control the position here.
Ytlear trying to control but Klutie is having none of it.

Ytlear swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Klutie is now in Ytlear's guard. A big mistake from Ytlear there, giving up the dominant position!

Ytlear throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Klutie escapes and throws Ytlear's legs to the side, diving into side control!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Klutie trying to control the action but Ytlear is working from the bottom.

Klutie decides to stand up, so the ref orders Ytlear to his feet.

Klutie shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Ytlear is looking to stand up but Klutie isn't so interested in that idea.
Ytlear has his hands on Klutie's head, controlling the position.

Ytlear looking to control.
Klutie seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Ytlear throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Klutie wants to control from the top but Ytlear keeps moving.

Ytlear looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Ytlear looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

and Klutie counters by moving into the clinch.
Klutie gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.


It looks like James Ytlear has been cut.
Ytlear letting Klutie take a breather here.

Klutie really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Ytlear jumps guard but Klutie stands there with Ytlear around his waist. Ytlear gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Klutie comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Klutie lands a nice knee to the body.
Klutie content to slow the pace in the clinch.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Klutie takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Ytlear is breathing heavily.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Klutie scores with a knee to the head.

Klutie escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Klutie gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Klutie looking to control.
Ytlear controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Klutie wants to sweep but no luck.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ytlear accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Klutie is trying to keep Ytlear in close.
Ytlear looking to sit in guard and control but Klutie gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Klutie pushing down on Ytlear's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Klutie tries to pass to full mount but Ytlear defends it.
Klutie prevents Ytlear from improving his position.
Ytlear won't allow Klutie to pass to mount.
Ytlear tries to roll over but Klutie keeps him under control.
Ytlear is refusing to be controlled, as Klutie sits in half guard.

Klutie is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ytlear is just riding it out for now. Klutie eventually gives up the hold.
Klutie is thwarting Ytlear's attempts to control the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Ytlear moves out of range of the leg kick from Klutie.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Klutie tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ytlear paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Ytlear looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Klutie!
Ytlear is trying to control here but Klutie has managed to regain half guard.
Ytlear keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Klutie is trying to control but can't.

Ytlear is looking for a kimura here.
Ytlear is pressing down on Klutie's thigh, looking to free his foot. Klutie is holding on for now.

Klutie drives through and clinches with Ytlear against the cage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Klutie stands up from Ytlear's guard - Klutie perhaps looking for a knockout.
Ytlear shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

so Klutie counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Ytlear looking to hit a scissor sweep but Klutie is one step ahead there.

Klutie controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Ytlear is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Ytlear wants to free his trapped foot but Klutie is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Darnell Klutie showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Klutie has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
