Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sigurd Karson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chad Tyrell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Karson comes to the cage accompanied by Viking War Theme. Chad Tyrell will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Sigurd Karson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Chad Tyrell!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Vladimir Khabensky and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karson staying out of range there.
Jab, jab by Karson - just one landing.
Tyrell throws a quick inside leg kick.
Karson bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Tyrell's head.
Tyrell pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Karson misses with a hook.

Tyrell has taken the fight to the clinch.
Tyrell doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Karson.
Still in the clinch, Tyrell scores with a nice short uppercut.

We've been hearing reports that Karson has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Tyrell is leaning against Karson and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.

Karson's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Tyrell is pushing Karson up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Karson can't find room to land a body shot as Tyrell controls the action.

Tyrell's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Karson tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Karson takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Tyrell lands a head kick. Karson smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Chad Tyrell is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A nice inside leg kick there by Tyrell. That's going to slow Karson down.
Tyrell wants to clinch up but Karson keeps it at a distance.
Karson swings for the body but Tyrell moves out of range.
Tyrell fails with an attempt to clinch.

Karson on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
A jab lands there for Karson.

Tyrell lands a big head kick that sends Karson tumbling to the mat! Tyrell takes a step backwards and waves Karson back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Karson is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Tyrell throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Karson tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Tyrell walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Karson checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Tyrell fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Karson walks forward, straight into a front kick from Tyrell.

Tyrell gets a clinch.
Tyrell lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Tyrell breaks from the clinch.
Tyrell connects with a solid leg kick.
Tyrell's coach down at Sun Tzu's Art of War was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Tyrell's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Karson dives in for a single leg takedown but Tyrell sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Tyrell lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Karson is breathing heavily.

Tyrell breaks the clinch.
A chopping leg kick lands by Tyrell.
Tyrell throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Karson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Tyrell was well out of range. Poor timing from Karson.
Karson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Tyrell moves away.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Tyrell, right into the meat.

Karson drives through with a takedown into guard.
Tyrell keeping moving, preventing Karson from controlling successfully.
Karson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Tyrell pulls Karson in close to prevent any damage.
Let's hope that Tyrell has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Karson drops back looking for a leg! Tyrell is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Tyrell manages to kick Karson off! Karson jumps back into Tyrell's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tyrell is looking to clinch.
Tyrell doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Chad Tyrell seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Karson keeps the fight on the outside.

Karson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Karson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Karson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Tyrell is trying to get back to half guard.
Tyrell is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Tyrell manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Karson is pressing down on Tyrell's thigh, looking to free his foot. Tyrell is holding on for now.

Karson is looking for a kimura here.
Tyrell has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Karson is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Tyrell as he works his way to full guard.

Karson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Karson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Karson moves out of range of the strikes.

Karson gets tackled into the cage by Tyrell. Tyrell maintains the clinch.
Tyrell lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Karson's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Karson tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
A right handed body shot lands from Tyrell.
Tyrell just leaning against Karson, taking a breather.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Tyrell tries to throw a body punch but Karson avoids it by throwing Tyrell back against the cage.

That was a close second round but I would say that Sigurd Karson will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Tyrell does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Karson loads up on a big right hand but Tyrell slips the punch.
Chad Tyrell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tyrell tries to close the distance and clinch but Karson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Tyrell ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Karson avoids the head kick by Tyrell.
Tyrell connects with a high kick.
Tyrell lands a nice looking body kick.

Tyrell lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Tyrell is looking to clinch but Karson is avoiding it.

Karson takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Karson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Tyrell misses with a wild body shot.
Tyrell throws a big shot that misses.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Karson crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Tyrell - the referee stops the clock and Karson gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Tyrell. Karson manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Tyrell tests Karson's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Tyrell moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Tyrell throws a leg kick which misses Karson's front leg but catches the back leg as Karson tries to avoid it.
Karson chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Tyrell can pounce on him.

Karson feints and as Tyrell raises his hands in defense, Karson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Karson passes Tyrell's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Tyrell is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Tyrell is trying to control but can't.
Tyrell wants to get back to full guard.

Karson is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Tyrell defends it well.
Tyrell is trying to maintain the position but Karson is very close to passing his half guard.

Karson is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Tyrell has managed to free his arm - good work.

Karson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Karson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

And that's the end of the fight!
Chad Tyrell comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Tyrell has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
