Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Hugh Janus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Helio Perrera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hugh Janus! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Helio Perrera! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Perrera throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Janus was covering up waiting for the punch and Perrera finishes the takedown easily into guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Perrera accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Perrera connects with a couple of short punches. Perrera wants to control from the top but Janus keeps moving. Janus wants to stand up but Perrera is controlling him. Perrera works a leg free and moves into half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Perrera looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Janus with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Perrera tries to pass the half guard into mount. Janus knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Janus's coaches at Cylon Training Academy have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position. Perrera is nestled in close to Janus, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
That's one minute gone in the round. Perrera working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Perrera thows a huge punch but Janus dodges it nicely.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Perrera thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Janus's head. Perrera tries to pass to full mount but Janus defends it. Perrera passes to side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Janus taking a bit of punishment here - Perrera scoring with strikes. Perrera working the head with strikes. Perrera is looking to take a break and control but Janus is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Perrera looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Perrera working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Perrera prevents Janus from escaping the position. Janus dodges the ground and pound from Perrera. Perrera working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Perrera looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Janus wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Janus knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Perrera on the ground. Perrera wants to control but Janus is keeping him busy. Perrera connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Janus some visible discomfort.
Perrera prevents Janus from escaping the position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Perrera cracks Janus with an elbow. That is naaassty. Janus dodges the ground and pound from Perrera. Perrera is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Janus is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Helio Perrera dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Perrera fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Perrera throws a right and a left that Janus avoids nicely. Perrera misses with a jab to the body

Janus wants to clinch and Perrera counters with a lovely shot to the body. A looping hook to the body misses from Perrera. Janus does a little dance to reset his feet. Janus moves out of range of the strikes. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Janus tries to clinch there but Perrera circles away.
Perrera throws a body punch but Janus moves out of range. Perrera lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Janus circles away quickly and effectively. Helio Perrera seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Janus is looking to take this fight into the clinch. The fight stays on the outside here - Janus looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Helio Perrera is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Perrera swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Perrera shoots for a takedown but Janus saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Janus fails with an attempt to clinch.

Janus darts in trying to clinch and Perrera counters with a nice double leg into side control. Janus won't be happy with that. Perrera lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Janus down.
Helio Perrera has got the better of the ground game so far. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Janus is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Perrera is controlling him well. Perrera working the strikes but Janus uses the opportunity to regain half guard. Janus on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Janus tries to get out of the position. Perrera wants to work for an arm triangle but Janus is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Janus is refusing to be controlled, as Perrera sits in half guard. Perrera missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Perrera passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Janus! Janus's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Perrera with the ground and pound from mount. Perrera lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Janus hang on? Janus wants to get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Perrera is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Janus can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Perrera lands a big elbow. Janus in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Perrera has hold of Janus's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Janus manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
You get the feeling that Janus really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Helio Perrera showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Janus gets in close and instigates a clinch. Janus tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Perrera avoids it. Janus tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Janus is struggling to control the position. Perrera is trying to pull guard but Janus has him pressed against the cage. Janus with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Janus is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Perrera is defending well for now. Perrera looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Janus missing with knees to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round. Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Janus obliges. Janus using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Perrera has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Perrera breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Perrera throws a hook but Janus blocks it. Jab by Perrera. Janus wants to clinch. Nice sprawl there from Janus as Perrera shoots in. Perrera throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Perrera circles away from the clinch attempt and Perrera counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Janus is looking to escape. Perrera scoring with strikes to the body and head. Janus wants to get back to his feet. Perrera seems to be working for a kimura but Janus defends the submission attempt. Perrera is keen to just control but Janus is a slippery customer. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Perrera uses his free foot to push down on Janus's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Janus. Perrera landing punches. Perrera has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Perrera lands a nice shot to the head. Perrera landing shots from mount.
Janus is rocked! Perrera unloads with some shots from mount but Janus bucks and avoids them well.
Oh Janus is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Perrera throws some wild stikes that Janus manages to avoid easily.
Janus seems to have got his legs back now. You get the feeling that Janus really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Perrera pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Janus squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Oooooh, big shot lands for Perrera! Janus is hurt baaadly! Perrera is firing away with more strikes - Janus is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!
