PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sam Rogers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Bellic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bellic has chosen GTA 4 Theme as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Sam Rogers!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, David Bellic!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Frank Dennis and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bellic lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Rogers looks to land a left hand but Bellic moved out of range nicely.
Bellic connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Rogers connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Rogers shoots in looking for a takedown. Bellic tries to sprawl out of it but Rogers keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bellic manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Rogers has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Rogers uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Bellic.

Bellic rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Rogers counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Rogers looks to score with a jab to the body but Bellic is just out of range.
No joy there for Bellic, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

The fighters circling - Rogers throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Rogers drives through with a takedown into Bellic's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bellic can do anything to dispel that myth.

Bellic tries to roll over but Rogers keeps him under control.
Rogers will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Rogers throwing shots but Bellic is blocking nicely.

Rogers drops an elbow to the side of Bellic's head.
Rogers wants to take a breather but Bellic is having none of it.
Bellic is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Rogers wants to work for an arm triangle but Bellic is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Rogers is trying to control. Bellic wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Sam Rogers will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Rogers is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Bellic stuns Rogers with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Bellic goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Rogers shoots in looking for a takedown. Bellic tries to sprawl out of it but Rogers keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bellic manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
David Bellic seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Horrible takedown attempt by Rogers or perhaps it was just good defense by Bellic, which made it look bad.
Bellic throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Bellic scores with a one two! Rogers had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.


It looks like Sam Rogers has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bellic slaps away a takedown attempt from Rogers, before circling back to the center of the mat.

I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Bellic has cracked Rogers with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Bellic lands another huge swinging hook and Rogers tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Rogers, before Bellic can land any more shots!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:06 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). David Bellic!
David Bellic is the new middleweight champion!
In his post fight interview, David Bellic started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
