PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Potatos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Potatos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Miller!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Alan Glass and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Potatos tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Miller is able to avoid easily.
Miller with a jab.
Potatos cracks Miller with a good jab.
Potatos shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Miller pinned against the cage. Miller gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Potatos looks to land a left hand but Miller moved out of range nicely.
Potatos doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Miller missing with a left hand there. Potatos was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Miller tries a head kick but it misses.
Miller slips a jab from Potatos.

Miller shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Miller was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Miller postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Miller is looking to take a break and control but Potatos is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
An elbow from Miller crashes against the mat.
Miller tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Miller throws an elbow but Potatos slips to the side and avoids it well.
Miller postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Sloppy strikes there by Miller.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Miller wants to control but Potatos is keeping him busy.
The ground and pound from Miller seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Potatos is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
You can see the frustration on Potatos's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Miller working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Potatos tries to bench press Miller off him but Miller keeps the position.
Miller has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Potatos managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Miller.
Miller trying to control the action but Potatos is working from the bottom.
Miller tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Sloppy strikes there by Miller.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A lull in the action here as Miller stalls from top position.
Potatos is not content to let Miller control the position.
Miller content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Potatos tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Miller wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Miller tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Miller has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Potatos tries to bench press Miller off him but Miller keeps the position.
Miller advances to full mount.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Miller is stalling here but it's allowed Potatos to get half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Miller dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Miller misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Potatos lands with a hook. Miller tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
A nice leg kick lands there from Potatos.
Miller shoots in looking for a takedown. Potatos tries to sprawl out of it but Miller keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Potatos manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Potatos misses the jab.
Miller connects with a looping right hand.
Miller missing with a left hand there. Potatos was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Miller shoots in for a takedown but Potatos shows good takedown defense.
Potatos feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Miller's calf.
Potatos keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Miller loads up on a big right hand but Potatos slips the punch.
Miller shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Potatos defends it nicely.
Jack Potatos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Miller.

Potatos throws a leg kick but Miller moved away.
Potatos lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Potatos throws the left hand but Miller avoids the punch easily.
Miller slips a jab and a cross from Potatos.
Miller moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Potatos moves away from the strike by Miller.
A solid leg kick lands there for Potatos.
Miller fails with a takedown attempt.
Potatos avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Miller waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Potatos.

Miller lands a jab.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Potatos defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Miller.
Miller swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Miller lands with a right hand.

Potatos gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Miller to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Miller trying to control but Potatos is working from the bottom.
Miller landing with the ground and pound.
Miller wants to pass the guard but Potatos is keeping the position.
Potatos might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Miller wants to control from the top but Potatos keeps moving.

Miller makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Potatos looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Miller is looking to work some ground and pound but Potatos has wrist control.
Miller wants to control from the top but Potatos keeps moving.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Miller throws an elbow that misses. Potatos uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Miller's guard. Nice move by Potatos!

Miller looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Miller showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Miller drives through with a takedown into guard.
David Miller has got the better of the ground game so far.
Miller's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Miller stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Potatos swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Miller slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Potatos avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Miller looking to sit in guard and control but Potatos gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Miller wants to sweep but no luck.
Potatos trying to control but Miller is working from the bottom.
Potatos has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Potatos is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Miller ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Miller feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Potatoss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Jack Potatos has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Miller misses with a head kick.
Potatos has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Miller finds it's way round the side to connect with Potatos's head.
Miller fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Potatos throws a leg kick but Miller checks it.
Potatos is looking to slow Miller down with leg kicks.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Potatos works Miller's body with a nice hook.
Miller digs a good hook to Potatos's body.
Potatos misses with a looping right.
No luck for Miller with that takedown attempt.

Nice takedown defense from Miller. No joy for Potatos on that attempt.

Potatos lands with a right hand.
Miller has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Potatos.
Miller connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Potatos loads up on a big right hand but Miller slips the punch.
Miller blocks the body kick.
Potatos staying out of range there.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Miller.
David Miller seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Potatos throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Miller stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Miller takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Potatos pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Miller looks for a takedown but Potatos sprawls well.
Jack Potatos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Miller.
Miller gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
David Miller is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Potatos lands a big shot that drops Miller! Can he finish him?


It looks like David Miller has been cut.

Miller working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Potatos has passed into half guard!
Miller is trying to control but can't.
Miller is looking for a sweep. Potatos is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Potatos is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Miller is looking to improve his position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jack Potatos showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Miller has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
