Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nikita Kotoski! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Angus McButticutty! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Edson Gomes and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McButticutty misses with a wild combination.
Kotoski fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Kotoski decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Kotoski is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Kotoski trying to pass the guard but McButticutty defending well. Kotoski is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and McButticutty reverses the position - he's now on top in Kotoski's guard. McButticutty must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. McButticutty wants to get up but he can't break Kotoski's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Kotoski wants to sweep but no luck. Kotoski had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. McButticutty is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Kotoski Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take McButticutty's back instead. Kotoski has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kotoski is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. McButticutty defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Kotoski is breathing heavily. McButticutty has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke. McButticutty really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kotoski. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Kotoski working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet. Kotoski gets his hands free as McButticutty looks to control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McButticutty breaks Kotoski's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Kotoski keeping moving, preventing McButticutty from controlling successfully. McButticutty is stalling in the full guard. Kotoski is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but McButticutty frees his head nicely. Oh but Kotoski has switched to an armbar! McButticutty is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
