The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Daniel Blasius and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith moves into the clinch.
Bowman is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Bowman prevents a takedown attempt there.
Bowman is pushing Smith up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Smith tries to score a body lock takedown but Bowman shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Smith wants to break the clinch but can't.
Smith tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Bowman just stands there and leans against the cage.

Bowman pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Smith changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bowman looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Bowman wants to control but Smith postures up.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Smith has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

and Bowman counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Bowman.
Smith jumps guard but Bowman stands there with Smith around his waist. Smith gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Bowman pushes off an throws an elbow but Smith leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Smith goes for a takedown in the clinch but Bowman prevents it.

Smith really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bowman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Bowman is in close to Smith's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Smith looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Bowman puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Bowman has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Bowman looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Smith with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Smith is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Smith wants to get back to his feet.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Bowman connects with a nice short shot to Smith's temple.

Bowman thows a huge punch but Smith dodges it nicely.

Bowman slips a nice elbow through Smith's hands, connecting with Smith's forehead.
Bowman thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Bowman drops an elbow to the side of Smith's head.

Prince Bowman overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Bowman has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Smith's face.
Bowman cracks Smith with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Bowman working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Bowman is landing with some decent strikes but Smith is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Prince Bowman.
I think Bowman has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
