Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Calvin Tate! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kay Ector! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Colin Fray and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ector has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Ector there as he acknowledges the shot. Tate fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. We've been told by Tate's head coaches at ELITE GYM 40CAP that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Nice straight punches there by Ector. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Ector. Ector throws a shot from downtown. Tate moves away and avoids it. Tate circles away from the clinch attempt.

The fighters circling - Tate throws out the jab but it was never going to land. A punch lands to the side of Ector 's head but he takes it in his stride. A jab from Ector finds it's way through Tate's defenses. Tate is looking to score with low kicks. Ector throws a wild body kick that Tate sees coming a mile off. Ector prevents a body shot from Tate. A frustrated look appears on Ector's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Tate is looking to clinch. Tate gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Ector. A bone on bone clash there as Ector blocks the leg kick.
Tate swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Tate throws a leg kick which misses Ector's front leg but catches the back leg as Ector tries to avoid it. Kay Ector is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Ector ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Tate moves away. Tate closes the distance and clinches. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Tate. Ector is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. A head punch blocked on the inside by Ector. Tate keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Ector's efforts to push away. Tate misses with some punches.

Ector tries to break the clinch but Tate is controlling the position. Ector pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Tate blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Tate misses with some punches.
Ector is trying to break free. Tate lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Tate digs a right hand underneath Ector's ribcage. Ector let out a lung full of air as it connected. Tate swings wildly with an uppercut but Ector uses good head movement to avoid it. Ector wants to break the clinch but can't.

Ector is trying to force a seperation but Tate has the dominant position. Tate lands a body punch. The referee calls for Tate to work.

Ector tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Tate lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Ector tries to break the clinch but Tate is controlling the position. Calvin Tate dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Tate takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Ector avoids the head kick by Tate.
Ector darts in trying to clinch and Tate makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Ector tries to keep at a distance but Tate has taken the fight into the clinch. Tate breaks from the clinch.
Ector misses with a wild body shot. Calvin Tate is winning the standup battle so far. Tate throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Ector's head.
It looks like Kay Ector has been cut. Tate is looking to slow Ector down with leg kicks. Nice body punch from Ector. Ector swinging wildly here.
Ector cracks a nice hook into Tate's ribs. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ector wants to clinch but Tate slips to the side and Tate counters with a low kick, right behind Ector 's knee. Ector fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ector tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Ector tries to close the distance and clinch up but Tate swats him away and circles back towards the center. Ector throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Ector takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Tate misses with a low kick.

Tate throws a hook but Ector blocks it. Ector throws out a loose jab but Tate uses good head movement to avoid it. Tate misses with a head kick.
Tate darts in and out, connecting with a jab. No joy there for Ector, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Tate throws out a leg kick but Ector moves out of range and Tate only half commits. Ector rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Tate counters with a good low kick that Ector was not able to check. An inside leg kick lands from Ector. Tate turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Tate changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ector looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ector dodges the ground and pound from Tate. Tate in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Tate misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Tate scores with punches from side control. Tate looks up at the clock and then as Ector takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Tate smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Tate throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Ector works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Tate working over Ector with some ground and pound. Ector looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Ector has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it. Tate is nestled in close to Ector, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ector gets full guard. Ector keeping moving, preventing Tate from controlling successfully. Tate postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Tate trying to control the position from guard on top but Ector is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ector bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Tate's guard. Tate keeping moving, preventing Ector from controlling successfully. Ector has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Tate is proving hard to escape from.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tate had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ector defends it easily. Tate lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Tate's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Tate trying to control but Ector is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tate loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Calvin Tate dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Kay Ector's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Tate dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Tate missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

The fighters are battling for position here. Ector manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Tate postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Ector wants to get back to his feet but Tate is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Ector scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Tate throws a low kick but it's checked well by Ector. Ector throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Tate goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Kay Ector is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. A kick lands to the mid section there for Tate. Tate circles away from the clinch attempt.
A good leg kick by Tate. A good leg kick by Tate. Ector throws a hook to the side of Tate's head but Tate sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Ector misses with a low kick.
Ector connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Tate momentarily.

A big right from Ector misses. Ector wants to land a leg kick but Tate is out of range. Tate slips a straight right by Ector. Ector feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Tates jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Ector swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Some wild striking there from Ector.
Tate feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Ector's calf. Kay Ector has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Calvin Tate is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Ector throws a right and a left that Tate avoids nicely. A head kick by Ector misses and Tate counters with a nice low kick that buckles Ector's knee momentarily. Ector rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Tate moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Ector takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Ector throws a one two combo.
Tate tries to clinch up. Tate buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Tate bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Ector's head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tate misses with a low kick. Tate looks for the body kick but Ector saw that one coming. Ector misses the shot to the body. Tate ducks under a wild hook from Ector. Ector takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Ector ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Tate moves away. Tate lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Nice body kick from Tate. Ector misses with a looping left. Ector chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Tate can pounce on him.
A nice inside leg kick there by Tate. That's going to slow Ector down. Ector moves out of range as Tate throws a body kick.
Tate goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Tate looks to score with a jab to the body but Ector is just out of range. Ector moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Ector throws an off balance right hand
and Tate counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Calvin Tate. Well Tate has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
