Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Henry Torres! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Wabricio Ferdum! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Richard Clark and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Torres throws out a loose jab but Ferdum uses good head movement to avoid it. Ferdum gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Torres connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Ferdum manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Torres on his heels. He'll look to pass Torres's guard now, I'm sure. Ferdum trying to control but Torres is working from the bottom. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Torres holds on and takes a little breather. Ferdum throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Torres works some decent striking defense from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Torres tries to land a sweep but no joy. Torres on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Torres tries to get out of the position. Torres keeping moving, preventing Ferdum from controlling successfully. Torres working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Ferdum. Torres has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Torres is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Ferdum passes Torres's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Torres might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Torres is looking for a sweep. Ferdum is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Ferdum is looking to take a break and control but Torres is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Torres tries to get to full guard but Ferdum has control of the leg. Torres is trying to control but can't.
Torres knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ferdum on the ground. Ferdum is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Ferdum is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Torres has managed to free his arm - good work. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Ferdum connects with a nice short shot to Torres's temple. Torres tries to roll over but Ferdum keeps him under control. Torres is working hard here to advance position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. We've been informed that Ferdum has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Torres thuds a left hand into Ferdum's body. Torres scores with a decent looking hook. Torres darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Henry Torres is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Ferdum takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Torres closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Ferdum! Torres dives in looking to finish! Ferdum is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Henry Torres! Henry Torres decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
