Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Keeping Promises (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Te Huna (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Promises comes to the cage accompanied by MegaDeth - Killing Is My Business... And Business Is Good!. Te Huna has chosen Chevelle-Jars as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Keeping Promises!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Te Huna!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Te Huna with a body punch. A glancing blow.
A chopping leg kick lands by Promises.
Keeping Promises seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Good work by Te Huna as he checks the leg kick.
Promises walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Te Huna checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Te Huna tries to score a power double leg takedown but Promises sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Te Huna somewhat.
Te Huna displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Promises throws out the jab.
Promises keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Promises misses with a straight right.
Promises thumps Te Huna with a low kick.
Promises tries to land a leg kick but Te Huna saw it coming and moves away.
Promises connects with a single shot there.

Promises throws a sloppy head kick and Te Huna moves out of range easily.
Promises seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

Te Huna takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Keeping Promises is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Promises connects with a leg kick. Te Huna looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Promises gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Te Huna to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Promises looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Te Huna works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Te Huna is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Te Huna wants to pass to mount but Promises is defending the position.

Te Huna is looking for a kimura but Promises is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Te Huna to get the leverage.
Promises regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Te Huna.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Te Huna accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Te Huna slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Te Huna swings around for an armbar but Promises sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Te Huna's guard.

Te Huna is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Promises got a little sloppy there for a moment and Te Huna has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Promises has managed to get both his arms back between Te Huna's legs - danger averted.

Te Huna had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Promises defends it easily.

Promises preventing the sweep.

Te Huna looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Te Huna manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Promises manages to get himself to full guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Te Huna pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Promises is keeping the position for now.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

A close round but James Te Huna will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Te Huna throws a combination. Promises tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Te Huna moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Promises misses with a body shot.
Promises tries to land a leg kick but Te Huna saw it coming and moves away.
A right-left combo lands from Te Huna.
Promises fakes the leg kick and cracks Te Huna in the body.
Promises waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Te Huna.
Promises goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Te Huna takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Promises tried to score with a low kick but Te Huna checks it.

Promises scores with a jab. Te Huna acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
A head kick by Promises misses
and Te Huna counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

A nice inside leg kick there by Promises. That's going to slow Te Huna down.
Te Huna has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Promises.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Promises lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Te Huna has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Te Huna and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
A telegraphed right hand from Promises misses the target.

Promises loads up on a big right hand but Te Huna slips the punch.
Promises lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Promises darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Promises tries a head kick but it misses.
Promises lands a head kick. Te Huna smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Te Huna chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Promises can pounce on him.
Promises dodges the punch combination from Te Huna.
Promises connects with a solid leg kick.
Te Huna will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Te Huna decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Promises knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Te Huna on the ground.

Te Huna is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Promises defends it well.
Te Huna thows a huge punch but Promises dodges it nicely.
Te Huna throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Promises to regain full guard.
Te Huna loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Te Huna stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Promises swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Promises wants to sweep here but Te Huna controlling him for the moment.
Te Huna has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Promises prevents Te Huna from moving into mount.

Te Huna tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Te Huna has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Te Huna throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Promises works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Te Huna looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Promises is trying to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Keeping Promises dominated that second round.
That's time! Promises's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Promises with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Promises throws a push kick but Te Huna slaps the foot to one side.
Promises misses with a head kick.
An inside leg kick lands from Promises.
Nice cross by Te Huna.
Promises throws a head kick but Te Huna moves out of range.
Promises cracks a nice hook into Te Huna's ribs.
Promises looks to land a right hand but Te Huna moved out of range.
Promises throws a sloppy head kick and Te Huna moves out of range easily.
Te Huna punishes Promises's body with a nice straight punch.

A good leg kick by Promises.
Promises connects with a leg kick. Te Huna looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Promises goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Promises will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Nice straight punches there by Promises. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Promises.
Te Huna has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Promises finds it's way round the side to connect with Te Huna's head.

James Te Huna is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Promises lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. Promises regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Te Huna.

Te Huna in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Te Huna throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Promises works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Te Huna stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Promises swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Te Huna is still trying to improve position.

I would just about give that final round to James Te Huna.
I think Te Huna has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
