0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jonathan Roy! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Alec Ball and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Roy has closed the distance and engaged Juarez in a clinch.

Roy creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Juarez's defenses. Juarez really is a fat lump. We've been informed that Roy has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Juarez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Juarez decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Roy, up you get! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Juarez moves into the clinch successfully.
Juarez jumps guard but Roy turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Roy escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Jonathan Roy dominated that round. The cut man is working on Derek Juarez's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Roy throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Roy pushes Juarez up against the cage in a clinch. Roy manages to break the clinch.
Roy misses with a takedown attempt and Juarez counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Roy jumps into guard, dragging Juarez to the mat.

Juarez loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Roy is breathing heavily. Juarez trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Roy is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Juarez throws a big right hand that misses. Juarez forces his way into half guard. Juarez takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Roy is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Juarez scores with a couple of nice shots.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Juarez wants to take a breather but Roy is having none of it. Juarez uses his free foot to push down on Roy's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Roy. Juarez landing strikes, looking to finish! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Juarez looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
