The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dempsey throws a hook but Sturtsil avoids it easily.
Dempsey tries to land a leg kick but Sturtsil saw it coming and moves away.
Sturtsil moves away from the strike by Dempsey.
Dempsey connects with a nice looking jab.
Dempsey looks to score with a jab to the body but Sturtsil is just out of range.
Dempsey leaves Sturtsil with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Dempsey has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Dempsey scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Sturtsil doesn't seem bothered though.
Dempsey throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dempsey cracks Sturtsil with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Dempsey darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sturtsil changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Dempsey fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Sturtsil takes one on the chin but seems OK.

and Dempsey cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Reginald Dempsey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Deangelo Sturtsil.

Dempsey swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Sturtsil.

Dempsey rushes Sturtsil and presses him up against the cage.
Sturtsil is still on wobbly legs! Can Dempsey finish him?
Sturtsil is looking to take this one to the mat.
Sturtsil is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Dempsey gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Dempsey comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Sturtsil has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Dempsey is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Dempsey is working Sturtsil over against the cage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Dempsey swings wildly with an uppercut but Sturtsil uses good head movement to avoid it.
Sturtsil can't get the takedown.
Dempsey pushes Sturtsil against the cage. Dempsey is working some dirty boxing. Dempsey pushes off with a quick right hook! Sturtsil goes down! Sturtsil tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Dempsey moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!
