Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Han Junsuke! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Thiago Salvador! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Colin Fotheringham and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Salvador darts in looking for a takedown but Junsuke gets double underhooks and turns Salvador into the cage. Junsuke wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Junsuke could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Junsuke is trying to push Salvador away but Salvador has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Salvador is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Junsuke is defending well. Junsuke tries to break free but Salvador pushes him back against the cage. Junsuke is trying to push Salvador away but Salvador has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. A frustrated look appears on Junsuke's face as he tries to break the clinch. Junsuke tries to break the clinch but Salvador is controlling the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Salvador tries to score a body lock takedown but Junsuke shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Han Junsuke has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Thiago Salvador. Salvador changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Junsuke fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Salvador has a takedown stuffed. Junsuke lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Junsuke throws a half hearted mid kick. Salvador fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Salvador shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Junsuke pinned against the cage. Junsuke gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Junsuke looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Junsuke throws a nice looking combination but Salvador bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Junsuke scores with a nice body kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Salvador has a takedown stuffed. Junsuke keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Junsuke slaps away a takedown attempt from Salvador, before circling back to the center of the mat. Junsuke tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Salvador looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Junsuke is fending him off so far but Salvador persists. Nope, Junsuke circles away and we're back to standing. Salvador looks winded! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Junsuke throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Salvador shoots in and gets a takedown into Junsuke's guard. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Salvador postures up.
Salvador stops Junsuke from standing up. Salvador has gone for a leg lock! Junsuke slips out almost immediately though and dives into Salvador's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Salvador is adopting a defensive guard. Junsuke knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Salvador on the ground.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Han Junsuke. Junsuke throws a head kick that misses. Salvador dives in for a single leg takedown but Junsuke sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Junsuke has had enough of the clinch but Salvador keeps him there for the moment. Salvador keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Junsuke's efforts to push away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Salvador can't get the takedown.
Salvador has Junsuke pressed against the cage, preventing Junsuke from circling away and getting back to striking at range. A frustrated look appears on Junsuke's face as he tries to break the clinch. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Junsuke prevents the takedown attempt.
Salvador tries for a takedown. No joy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Han Junsuke dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Left hook, right uppercut from Junsuke. Junsuke throws a head kick but Salvador moves out of range.
Junsuke defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Salvador. Salvador closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Junsuke to the mat! Junsuke manages to get full guard. Salvador drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Salvador jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Salvador postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Junsuke is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Salvador, into his guard. Salvador escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Junsuke gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Junsuke trying to stand up but can't free himself from Salvador's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Salvador is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Junsuke defends well. Junsuke trying to control the position from guard on top but Salvador is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Junsuke wants to get up but he can't break Salvador's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Salvador working a defensive guard here.
Salvador has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Junsuke can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Salvador pulls Junsuke in close to his closed guard and prevents Junsuke from doing any damage or advancing position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Junsuke controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Han Junsuke. Salvador shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Salvador was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Salvador has hold of Junsuke's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Junsuke tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Salvador cranks the arm and Junsuke screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Junsuke, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Thiago Salvador! A very excited looking Thiago Salvador rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
