PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Duce Bigalo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Green (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Green comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Raining Blood kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Duce Bigalo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matt Green!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Steven Brown and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Green keeps the fight on the outside.
Bigalo tries to clinch there but Green circles away.
Green blocks a head kick by Bigalo.
Green is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Bigalo.
Green keeps the fight on the outside.
Bigalo throws a lazy right hand but Green sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Bigalo gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Green to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Green drops back looking for a leg! Bigalo is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bigalo manages to kick Green off! Green jumps back into Bigalo's guard.

Bigalo on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Bigalo tries to get out of the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Green working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
My spies in Nights Watch MMA Academy inform me that Green has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Green controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Green loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Green trying to control the position from guard on top but Bigalo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Bigalo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Green accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Green is stalling in the full guard.
Bigalo avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Green working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Bigalo looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Green checks the leg kick.
Bigalo definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Bigalo with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Green throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Bigalo.
Bigalo tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Green paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Bigalo tries to clinch but Green moves out of range.
Bigalo stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
A slapping body kick lands there for Bigalo.
Duce Bigalo is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Green takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Duce Bigalo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bigalo delivers a nice body kick.
Green on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Bigalo throws the kick towards the body but Green avoids it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Green throws a poor cross that misses
and Bigalo counters with a nice body kick.
Green misses with an uppercut.
Bigalo keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Green.
Green dives in and grabs Bigalo's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bigalo pushes down on Green's head and hops out.
Bigalo lands with a kick to the ribs.
Bigalo fails with an attempt to clinch.

Green looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Green sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Bigalo defending well though.
Green performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Bigalo is looking to control Green's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Bigalo avoid being mounted?
Green thows a huge punch but Bigalo dodges it nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bigalo is trying to stand up here but Green is controlling him well.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Green connects with a nice short shot to Bigalo's temple.

Bigalo on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Green looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Green scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Green not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Green uses his free foot to push down on Bigalo's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Bigalo.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Green breaks from Bigalo's wrist control and lands an elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matt Green dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


The fight stays on the outside here - Bigalo looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Bigalo throws a leg kick but Green sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Bigalo stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Bigalo wants it to stay on the feet.
Green misses with a straight right.
Green avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Duce Bigalo is winning the standup battle so far.

Green gets the takedown into side control.

Green in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Bigalo is tapping! That's the end of the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Matt Green!
Matt Green took to the mic in his post fight interview and said 'Woooooooo! Huge win for the kid! Landen is a tough well rounded guy. Like I've told you, and shown you, when the fight hits the floor you are in the gravy boat baby. There ain't no life jackets in the gravy boat so you might as well relax, take a deep breath and embrace the end.'.
