PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Tapater Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Duddy Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Rua might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Hordes Of Chaos. Tapater Rua looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tapater Rua!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Duddy Anderson!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Seu Braga and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anderson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rua pinned against the cage. Rua gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Rua throws a head kick but Anderson moves out of range.
Anderson thows a body shot but no joy.
Rua is looking to clinch but Anderson is avoiding it.

Rua darts in and clinches Anderson up against the cage.
Anderson is trying to drag Rua to the mat but Rua just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Rua jumps into guard, dragging Anderson to the mat.
Rua bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Anderson's guard.

Rua wants to pass the guard but Anderson is keeping the position.

Anderson isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Rua stacks Anderson on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Rua!

Rua goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Anderson rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Rua's guard! Nice work there by Anderson!
Rua is breathing heavily.
Anderson trying to control the position from guard on top but Rua is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Rua has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Anderson is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Rua.
Anderson wants to control but Rua is keeping him busy.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Rua managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Anderson.
Anderson trying to control the position but Rua is working away.
Rua gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Anderson throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Anderson is trying to control the action in half guard but Rua is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Anderson lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Anderson misses with an attempted mid kick.
Anderson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Tapater Rua has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Duddy Anderson.
Anderson shoots in looking for a takedown. Rua tries to sprawl out of it but Anderson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rua manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Anderson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Rua tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Anderson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Anderson misses with a wild body shot.

Rua looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Anderson!

Rua goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Anderson is on top in guard.
Anderson wants to control from the top but Rua keeps moving.

Anderson wants to pass the guard but Rua is keeping the position.
Rua is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Anderson moves into full guard.
Rua trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Rua is working hard here to advance position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tapater Rua dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Anderson swings wildly with an uppercut but Rua uses good head movement to avoid it.

Rua pulls guard successfully.
Anderson tries to free his leg and advance position but Rua is retaining full guard.

Anderson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Rua escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Anderson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Rua wants to hit a switch here but Anderson passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Rua there!
Anderson wants to control the pace but Rua is squirming around nicely.
Anderson might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Rua kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Anderson is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Rua is wriggling around trying to escape.
Rua is trying to reverse the position but instead Anderson has taken his back - oops!

Anderson is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Duddy Anderson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Anderson shoots for a double leg takedown but Rua sprawls well. He's pushed Anderson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Rua doesn't manage to clinch there - Anderson circles away.
Anderson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rua's waist but Rua gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Anderson off to one side.

Rua stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Anderson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Anderson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rua as he avoids it easily.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Rua throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Anderson blocks it with crossed arms.
Anderson changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Rua fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Rua tries to close the distance and clinch up but Anderson swats him away and circles back towards the center.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Tapater Rua showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Rua has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
