Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nathanial Salazar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Charles Ciarlo! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Salazar gets in close and instigates a clinch. Salazar is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Ciarlo pulls him back up using the underhooks. Salazar is trying to pull guard but Ciarlo turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Ciarlo lands a nice shot to the body. Ciarlo lands an elbow just above Salazar 's eye.
It looks like Nathanial Salazar has been cut. Salazar jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ciarlo walks away with a smile on his face. Salazar gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nathanial Salazar. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ciarlo tests Salazar's chin there with a solid looking shot. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Decent striking displayed by Ciarlo there. Salazar looks to land a body kick but Ciarlo moved away. Ciarlo shoots in and drives through. Salazar sprawls well. Salazar scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Salazar could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Ciarlo struggling a bit here. Ciarlo is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Salazar is staying active.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ciarlo is trying to improve his position. Ciarlo is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Salazar's leg. Oh but that's left an opportunity for Salazar! He's got an arm triangle... it looks tight! He's rotating and Ciarlo has tapped! This one is allllll over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Nathanial Salazar!
