Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Jones!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Wesley Smith and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Jones misses with a low kick.
David Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jones throws a head kick but Smith moves out of range.
Jones throws a hook but Smith blocks it.
A looping hook to the body misses from Jones. Smith does a little dance to reset his feet.
Jones misses with a straight left.
Smith slips a jab from Jones.

Smith dives in and scores a takedown into Jones's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smith landing with the ground and pound.
Jones preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Jones is trying to control the position but Smith postures up.
Jones utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Jones is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Smith is aware though and is defending well.
Smith pushes down on Jones's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Jones is looking for a sweep. Smith is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Smith slows the pace down in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smith has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Smith thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jones's head.
Smith content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Smith trying to control the action but Jones is working from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up because John Smith just wasn't active enough.
A shot to the liver by Jones. Beautiful body shot.
Smith defending well as Jones loads up on a big left hand.
Jones throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Smith darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Jones is not content to let Smith control the position.
Smith missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jones can do anything to dispel that myth.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Smith controlling the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of John Smith.
No luck for Smith with that takedown attempt.
Smith blocks a leg kick.
Smith has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Smith shoots in for a takedown but Jones shows good takedown defense.
Smith changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jones tries to avoid it but Smith manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jones to the ground. Jones escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Smith moves out of range as Jones throws a body kick.
Smith slips a straight right by Jones.
Jones missing with a left hand there. Smith was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Jones jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Nice uppercut lands for Jones. That snapped Smith's head back.
Jones is looking to score with low kicks.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Smith shoots in but Jones avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Jones lands a jab to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but David Jones will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Jones is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Smith.
Smith shoots in looking for a takedown. Jones tries to sprawl out of it but Smith keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jones manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Jones gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Smith trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Jones throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Smith stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Smith scoring with some ground and pound.

Smith lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Jones should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Smith wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving.
Smith seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

We're going to have a standup here because John Smith wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Jones moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.


It looks like John Smith has been cut.

Jones sizes up Smith with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Jones misses with a head kick.

Smith shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Jones is trying to defend but Smith finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Jones really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Smith stops Jones from getting back to his feet.
Smith passes to full mount!
Jones in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

Smith has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Jones's face.
John Smith overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Oooooh, big shot lands for Smith! Jones is hurt baaadly! Smith is firing away with more strikes - Jones is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Smith!
John Smith decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
