Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carrell scores with a jab to the jaw.
It looks like Gustavo Meranda has been cut.
Meranda shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Carrell but Carrell pushes him off and we're back to square one.
A telegraphed right hand from Meranda misses the target.
Carrell swats away the attempt to clinch by Meranda.
Carrell turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Carrell takes one to the side of the head.
Meranda wants to clinch up but Carrell keeps it at a distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Meranda drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Meranda wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Carrell, who protects the arm well.

Meranda trying to control the position but Carrell is working away.
Meranda is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Carrell is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Meranda working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Meranda trying to control the action but Carrell is working from the bottom.

Meranda tries for a kimura but Carrell is defending well.
Meranda is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Carrell is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Meranda tries to advance to mount but can't.

Meranda wants to lay and pray for a moment but Carrell keeps working.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Carrell can do anything to dispel that myth.
Carrell wants to control but Meranda postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carrell is trying to escape the position but Meranda is controlling the position.
Carrell is not content to let Meranda control the position.
Meranda is really struggling to control Carrell but he's trying to hold on to the position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Carrell manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Meranda is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Meranda looking for submissions off his back.
Carrell looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Meranda is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Carrell pulls his head out easily.

Carrell thows a leg kick but Meranda checks it
and Meranda counters with a stiff right hand.
Carrell throws a sloppy head kick and Meranda moves out of range easily.
Carrell throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Meranda showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Carrell.
Carrell throws a looping overhand right but Meranda ducks down to avoid it.
Meranda slips a straight right by Carrell.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Meranda closes the distance and pushes Carrell back into the cage.
Carrell lands a hook that snaps the head of Meranda backwards.
Meranda is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Carrell gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Carrell swings wildly with an uppercut but Meranda uses good head movement to avoid it.
Carrell gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Meranda.

Carrell will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Meranda up against the cage.
Meranda jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Carrell walks away with a smile on his face. Meranda gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gustavo Meranda. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nice defenses there by Carrell.
Carrell wants to slow Meranda down by chopping away at his legs.
Carrell slips a jab from Meranda.
Meranda tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Carrell throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Carrell misses with a body kick.
Meranda wants to clinch but Carrell slips to the side
and Carrell counters with a nice body kick.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Meranda.
Meranda on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Meranda clinches.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Meranda.
Meranda fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Carrell scores with an uppercut up the middle.
A nice right hand lands inside from Meranda.
Meranda drops down looking for an ankle pick but Carrell pulls his leg out and moves away.
A big right from Carrell misses.

Carrell cracks the inside of Meranda's front leg.
Meranda takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Carrell throws a leg kick which misses Meranda's front leg but catches the back leg as Meranda tries to avoid it.
Nice body kick from Carrell.
Carrell misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Carrell throws out a leg kick but Meranda moves out of range and Carrell only half commits.
Meranda tries to clinch there but Carrell circles away.
Carrell lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Meranda has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Carrell.
Carrell leaves Meranda with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Horrible takedown attempt by Meranda or perhaps it was just good defense by Carrell, which made it look bad.
Jack Carrell is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Carrell keeps the fight on the outside.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Meranda throws a hook but Carrell blocks it.
Carrell misses with a head kick.
A chopping leg kick lands by Carrell.
Meranda tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Carrell paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Jack Carrell showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Meranda moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Carrell throws a series of punches but Meranda avoids them all with ease.
Carrell jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Meranda doesn't manage to clinch there - Carrell circles away.
Meranda blocks a head kick by Carrell.
Carrell tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Meranda is able to avoid easily.
Carrell misses with a kick to the body.
Meranda staying out of range there.
Carrell needs to keep his hands up - Meranda had a free shot at his head there.
Meranda clobbers Carrell with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Carrell gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Carrell lands a high kick!
Meranda is rocked!
Jack Carrell seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Meranda is aggressively charging in as Carrell backs up avoiding any damage. Carrell tosses out a jab and Meranda runs right into it face first! Meranda is out cold! Carrell dropped down on all fours and is barking in Meranda's face like a pit bull in celebration until the ref was finally able to pull him away!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:28 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jack Carrell!
