PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Castor Rollins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Gage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Castor Rollins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Joe Gage!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Radbod Blank and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rollins shoots in looking for a takedown. Gage tries to sprawl out of it but Rollins keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gage manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Gage scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Rollins seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Gage dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Rollins. That did some damage!
Gage fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Rollins.
A nice combination there by Gage.


It looks like Castor Rollins has been cut.
Rollins pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Gage lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

and Rollins counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Rollins not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Rollins bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Gage's guard.

Gage throws a push kick but Rollins slaps the foot to one side.
Rollins tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Gage lands a really nice looking cross but Rollins seems unphased.
Gage throws a body punch but Rollins moves out of range.
Rollins's corner calls for a 1-2. Rollins obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Gage throws a series of punches but Rollins avoids them all with ease.
Rollins scores with a decent looking hook.
Gage throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Rollins keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Gage cracks a nice hook into Rollins's ribs.
Rollins tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gage was well out of range. Poor timing from Rollins.
Rollins shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Gage throws a right hand that Rollins ducks under and follows up with a left that Rollins also avoids with ease.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nice straight punches there by Gage. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Gage.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

A bone on bone clash there as Rollins blocks the leg kick.

Gage pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Rollins scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Rollins throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gage's waist but Gage gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rollins off to one side.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Castor Rollins. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Gage fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Some bone on bone action there as Rollins checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
No joy there for Gage, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rollins feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Gage pulls Rollins in close to prevent any damage.
Gage is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Rollins has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Gage finds it's way round the side to connect with Rollins's head.

Rollins is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Rollins takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Joe Gage comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Gage winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
