Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jimmie Akesson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Philip Dyson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jimmie Akesson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Philip Dyson! The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Paulsen Ambrosius and Radbod Blank.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dyson moves into range and clinches up with Akesson. Akesson is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Dyson working some nice short punches in the clinch. Dyson prevents Akesson from breaking the clinch. Akesson is trying to break the clinch but Dyson is controlling him. Dyson misses with a hook to the ribs.
Dyson lands a hook to the side of the head. Dyson lands a right hand. Dyson misses with a punch on the inside.
Akesson wants to take the fight to the mat but Dyson manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Akesson is trying to break free. Dyson lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Akesson or not. Dyson struggles to land a body shot inside as Akesson controls his hands.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Akesson wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Dyson slips under a jab from Akesson. We've been told by Akesson's head coaches at Vale Tudo Elite Sparring that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Akesson misses with a few strikes there.
Akesson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
That's one minute gone in the round. Akesson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
A telegraphed right hand from Akesson misses the target. We've been informed that Dyson has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Dyson swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Akesson throws a low kick, looking for Dyson's leg but Dyson calmly moves out of range. Dyson blocks a low kick nicely. Akesson with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Dyson to score with a decent uppercut. Akesson fails to land with a series of punches.
Akesson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Dyson circles away. Dyson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Akesson swats him away and circles back towards the center. Akesson lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
It looks like Philip Dyson has been cut. Philip Dyson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Dyson lands a big head kick that sends Akesson tumbling to the mat! Dyson takes a step backwards and waves Akesson back to his feet - he wants the finish!
It looks like Jimmie Akesson has been cut. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Dyson misses with a kick to the body.
Dyson dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Akesson. That did some damage! Akesson pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Dyson has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Akesson finds it's way round the side to connect with Dyson's head. Akesson misses with a hook. Dyson ducked under it nicely. Dyson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dyson feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Akesson sprawling to the canvas! Akesson rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Dyson finish him?!
Akesson is rocked! Dyson connects with a picture perfect right hand that knocks Akesson out cold! This one is over in a flash!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:11 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Philip Dyson! Our winner, Philip Dyson, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
