Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Major Mcconnell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andreas Muller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Major Mcconnell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Andreas Muller!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Muller circles away from the clinch attempt.
Muller tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Mcconnell manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Muller shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Mcconnell napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The ground and pound from Muller seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mcconnell parries the strikes from Muller easily there. Muller is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Mcconnell to escape.
A lull in the action here.
Mcconnell regains half guard there - taking advantage of Muller's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Muller looks to land a strike but Mcconnell avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Mcconnell is looking to stand up but Muller isn't so interested in that idea.
Mcconnell utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Mcconnell preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Muller trying to control the position from guard on top but Mcconnell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Andreas Muller wasn't active enough on the ground.
Muller throws a leg kick that misses.

Muller closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Mcconnell's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Muller wants to stand but Mcconnell is controlling his posture from full guard.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Muller loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Andreas Muller was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Muller closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Mcconnell's guard.

Mcconnell is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Muller looking to sit in guard and control but Mcconnell gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Mcconnell postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Muller working for submissions but it's allowed Mcconnell to get to half guard.

Mcconnell decides to stand and escape the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mcconnell doesn't manage to clinch there - Muller circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andreas Muller dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Muller fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mcconnell manages to avoid it.

Muller feints and as Mcconnell raises his hands in defense, Muller changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Mcconnell is trying to control the position but Muller postures up.

Muller pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mcconnell is keeping the position for now.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Mcconnell wants to clinch up but Muller keeps it at a distance.
Andreas Muller seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mcconnell gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Muller to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Muller must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Muller throws a strike but Mcconnell rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Mcconnell stops Muller from standing up.

Mcconnell gets to his feet. Muller looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Mcconnell enables Muller to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Mcconnell manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Muller throws an elbow that misses. Mcconnell uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Muller's guard. Nice move by Mcconnell!
Muller throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Mcconnell stops Muller from standing up.
Muller is breathing heavily.
Mcconnell working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Mcconnell would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Muller can do anything to dispel that myth.

Mcconnell is standing up over Muller. Muller looks to escape but Mcconnell dives into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mcconnell stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Muller darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Mcconnell manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Muller accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Muller throws a strike but Mcconnell rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Mcconnell is looking to stand up but Muller won't let him.
Mcconnell connects with a couple of short punches.
Mcconnell wants to get up but he can't break Muller's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Muller has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Mcconnell is trying to keep an underhook but Muller manages to get the takedown into half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mcconnell regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Muller.

Andreas Muller showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Muller changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mcconnell looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Muller takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Muller creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Mcconnell regains half guard there - taking advantage of Muller's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Muller is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Mcconnell reverses the position - he's now on top in Muller's guard.

Muller decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Muller is just content to waste time from the top position. Mcconnell takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Mcconnell preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Muller really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mcconnell. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Muller is looking to work some ground and pound but Mcconnell has wrist control.
Muller postures up in Mcconnell's guard and throws a big left but Mcconnell blocks it.

Muller stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Mcconnell throws up his legs and catches Muller in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Muller tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Mcconnell! That came out of nowhere!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:42 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Major Mcconnell!
