Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brain Swanson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cristiano Pereira! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Luis Engracia and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Swanson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Pereira with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
A nice inside leg kick there by Pereira. That's going to slow Swanson down. Pereira gets in close and instigates a clinch. Pereira has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Pereira lands an elbow that stopped Swanson in his tracks for a moment.
It looks like Brain Swanson has been cut. Swanson displaying some good clinch control by pressing Pereira up against the cage. Pereira's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. A low kick from Swanson is predictable there and Pereira counters with a thumping low kick. Pereira closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Swanson quickly recovers to half guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Swanson wants to get back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Swanson works his way to full guard. Good work. Pereira preventing the sweep. Pereira really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Swanson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Pereira trying to control the position from guard on top but Swanson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Pereira must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Swanson trying to strike off his back.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Cristiano Pereira was stalling too much, according to the referee. Excellent takedown into side control there by Pereira. Swanson manages to work his way to half guard, despite Pereira's best efforts.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Swanson is trying to get back to full guard. Swanson is refusing to be controlled, as Pereira sits in half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Swanson wants to get back to his feet. Pereira not doing much here.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Pereira tries to stand but can't do so whilst Swanson controls his leg. Swanson manages to get to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Swanson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pereira's guard. Swanson is breathing heavily. Swanson decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Pereira, up you get! Pereira shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Swanson's guard. Pereira trying to control but Swanson is working from the bottom. Swanson is looking for a triangle but Pereira pushes his legs off easily.
Pereira's corner is telling him to maintain position. Swanson wants to sweep but no luck. Swanson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Pereira content to stall in guard here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Swanson wants to sweep here but Pereira controlling him for the moment.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Cristiano Pereira was stalling too much, according to the referee. Pereira throws a leg kick which misses Swanson's front leg but catches the back leg as Swanson tries to avoid it. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Pereira scores with a takedown into Swanson's guard. Swanson is looking for a triangle but Pereira pushes his legs off easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Cristiano Pereira will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Brain Swanson's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Pereira shoots in and gets a takedown into Swanson's guard. Pereira is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Swanson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pereira gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Swanson pushes a forearm under Pereira's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Pereira is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
