PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rufus Bond (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kannan Kutty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rufus Bond is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rufus Bond!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kannan Kutty!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kutty tries to clinch up.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Bond.
Bond shoots in for a takedown but Kutty shows good takedown defense.
Kutty fails to land the takedown.
Kannan Kutty seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kutty gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Kutty is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Bond gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Bond breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Kutty shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Bond is trying to defend but Kutty finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Kutty seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Bond does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Kutty is just content to waste time from the top position. Bond takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Kutty postures up.
Bond wants to stand and escape but Kutty is having none of it.
Kutty really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bond. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kutty wants to pass the guard but Bond is keeping the position.
Bond wants to sweep but no luck.
Bond wants to get back to his feet but Kutty is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Bond manages to escape and get back to his feet.

A low kick from Kutty misses
and Bond counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Bond shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Kutty holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rufus Bond. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kutty is trying to break the clinch but Bond has him pressed against the cage.
Kutty jumps guard but Bond stands there with Kutty around his waist. Kutty gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Kutty tries for a takedown but Bond sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

and Bond counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Bond really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Kutty moves into the clinch.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kutty is trying to break free.

Bond pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Kutty fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bond sprawls well initially but Kutty persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Kutty is pressing down on Bond's thigh, looking to free his foot. Bond is holding on for now.
Bond is trying to stand back up but Kutty is controlling him
Kutty seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Bond kicks Kutty off and gets back to his feet.
Kutty fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Kutty looks winded!

Bond shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kutty as he avoids it easily.
Kutty dives in and grabs Bond's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bond pushes down on Kutty's head and hops out.
Kutty shoots in looking for a takedown. Bond tries to sprawl out of it but Kutty keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bond manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Kutty fails with the takedown
and Bond counters with a nice uppercut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bond shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

and Kutty counters by clinching up.
Kutty is working for takedown but Bond is calmly controlling the position for now.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Bond breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bond stuffs the takedown attempt from Kutty. Kutty gets slowly back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kannan Kutty dominated that round.
That's time! Bond's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Bond manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Kutty on his heels. He'll look to pass Kutty's guard now, I'm sure.

Rufus Bond has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Kutty tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bond swivels and escapes.
Kutty is breathing heavily.
Bond slaps away a takedown attempt from Kutty, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Bond fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Kutty misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Rufus Bond has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kannan Kutty.

Kutty bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Bond bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Kutty keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

and Bond counters with a left and a right that stings Kutty.
Bond shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kutty as he jumps to the side.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Bond closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Bond lands in his opponent's guard.
Kutty should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Bond showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Kutty preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Kutty is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Bond defends well.
Bond with a flurry of punches that miss.

Bond controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Kutty has his hands on Bond's head, controlling the position.

Bond stands up and waves to Kutty to follow him.
Bond shoots in but no luck this time.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Kutty drives through with a takedown into Bond's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Bond wants to get back to his feet but Kutty is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


A left and a right from Kutty both land. Nice combination.
Bond gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Kutty counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Kutty trying to control the position from guard on top but Bond is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kutty must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Bond pushes Kutty off and scrambles back to his feet.
Kutty throws a sloppy head kick and Bond moves out of range easily.
Kutty takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Bond shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Kutty wants to clinch but Bond slips to the side

so Bond counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Bond stops Kutty from standing up.
Bond will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Kutty not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Bond slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Kutty.
Kutty has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Bond is working away from the top position though.
Kutty has a hand on Bond's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Bond takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Kutty tries to hold on but Bond postures up.
Bond scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Kutty is looking to get to half guard.
Bond lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Bond lands a couple of good shots and Kutty has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Bond lands a shot to the head.
Bond struggling to keep hold of the position.

Bond lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
Will Bond go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Bond punishes Kutty with strikes from the back mount.
Bond lands a punch to the side of the head from the back.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Kutty tries to escape the position.

Bond scores with punches and elbows.
Bond throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.
Bond is hanging on to Kutty's back as he tries to escape.
Kutty is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bond is landing with strikes from the back.

And that's the end of the fight!
