PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chuck Liddell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Ramirez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Liddell kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is It's Dark and Hell Is Hot. The crowd seem to be enjoying Ramirez's choice of entrance music: Megadeth-Trust. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 36 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chuck Liddell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 32 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alex Ramirez!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Radbod Blank and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Liddell throws a head kick but Ramirez moves out of range.
Ramirez looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Donk. Ramirez catches Liddell right on the button with a cross.
Liddell turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Alex Ramirez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A slapping leg kick lands for Liddell.
Liddell scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Liddell closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Ramirez's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Liddell advances to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Liddell controlling the action here.
Liddell passes to full mount!
Liddell controlling his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Liddell landing strikes from the mount and Ramirez is in trouble!
Liddell takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Liddell wants to control the pace but Ramirez is squirming around nicely.
Liddell controlling the position easily from mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ramirez is wriggling around trying to escape.

We're going to have a standup here because Chuck Liddell wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Liddell fails with the takedown.
Liddell shoots in but Ramirez avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Ramirez has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Ramirez pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Liddell back to the cage. Ramirez follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Ramirez defending well as Liddell loads up on a big left hand.
Ramirez gets cracked there but stands up to it.


It looks like Alex Ramirez has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ramirez tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Liddell swivels and escapes.

Liddell rushes Ramirez and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Liddell gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Liddell sitting in guard, not really doing much.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Ramirez working for submissions but it's allowed Liddell to get to half guard.
Liddell seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Liddell's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Liddell frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Ramirez can't escape the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Liddell working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Ramirez is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Ramirez has given up his back.
Ramirez is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Liddell.

Ramirez won't enjoy being in this position. Liddell looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Ramirez is tapping - it's over boys! Liddell picks up the submission victory!
