PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jacques Cousteau (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bobcat Gremlin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cousteau kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is 20000 Leagues Under the Sea - The Monster Attacks . Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bobcat Gremlin!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Tiny Johnson and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cousteau takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Cousteau takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Gremlin misses with a looping right.
Cousteau blocks the body kick.
Cousteau fails to land the takedown.
Cousteau looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gremlin is fending him off so far but Cousteau persists. Nope, Gremlin circles away and we're back to standing.
Gremlin throws a low kick but Cousteau moves out of range easily.
Gremlin takes a swing at Cousteau's ribcage but misses.
Cousteau uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Gremlin.

Cousteau displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Gremlin throws out the jab.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gremlin fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Cousteau, pushing him back against the cage.

Cousteau turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Cousteau manages to end up in side control.

Gremlin tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Cousteau manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Cousteau is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gremlin can do to turn this around?

Cousteau drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Gremlin manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Cousteau has Gremlin in his guard.

Cousteau has his foot on Gremlin's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gremlin works his way back into a safe position though.

Gremlin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cousteau. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Cousteau stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Gremlin tries to close the distance and clinch but Cousteau swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Cousteau has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Gremlin is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Cousteau yanks on the arm and Gremlin is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Cousteau.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:59 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jacques Cousteau!

A relieved looking Jacques Cousteau thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
