Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
39 - 24 - 2, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brian Watson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
48 - 20 - 1, fighting out of New York, Frank Esposito! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Dean Styles and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Watson shoots in and drives through. Esposito sprawls well. Watson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Esposito manages to avoid it. Watson gets tackled into the cage by Esposito. Esposito maintains the clinch. Esposito lands with a short shot to the head. Watson takes a knee right on the jaw!
Watson lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Esposito backwards. Watson drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Esposito tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Watson avoids it. Esposito tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Esposito misses with a knee to the head. Esposito lands with a short head shot on the inside. Esposito with an attempt at a knee that misses.

He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Watson throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Esposito has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Watson postures up.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Esposito is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Watson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Watson's back! Watson is trying to get back to his feet but Esposito has full control of the position and if anything, Watson has just worked his way into a worse spot. Esposito misses with a punch to the head. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Watson wants to control his opponent's hands but Esposito gets his hands free. Watson is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. Brian Watson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. You can see the frustration on Watson's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
