The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Klair tries to clinch but Meacham moves out of range. Klair connects with a body shot. Meacham tries to keep at a distance but Klair has taken the fight into the clinch. Meacham scores a nice knee to the body.
Meacham misses with the head strike.
Klair pushes Meacham back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. Meacham jumps guard and drags Klair to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. This has been an exciting period of action! Klair is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Meacham is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Meacham has escaped and now he's on top! Meacham stands up from guard. Let's bang! Jab by Klair. Excellent takedown into side control there by Klair. Klair is working Meacham over with some ground and pound from side control. Meacham looks gassed!
That's one minute gone in the round. Klair is looking to take a break and control but Meacham is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Klair knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Meacham on the ground. Klair decides to stand back up. Klair moves in looking to clinch but Meacham pushes him off. Meacham doesn't succeed with the takedown and Klair counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Klair. Klair trying to control the position from guard on top but Meacham is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Klair wants to pass the guard but Meacham is keeping the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Meacham has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Klair off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Klair goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Klair closes the distance and clinches. With the fighters up against the cage, Klair throws an elbow but misses. A short body shot lands from Klair as the two fighters clinch.
Meacham tries to break the clinch but Klair is controlling the position. Meacham breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Klair tries for a takedown but Meacham sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Klair misses with a takedown attempt - Meacham sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Meacham wants to clinch but Klair slips to the side and Klair decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Meacham's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Meacham throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Meacham is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Meacham manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Klair changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Meacham tries to avoid it but Klair manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Meacham to the ground. Meacham escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jami Klair. That's going to take a lot out of him. Meacham shoots in and bounces Klair off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Meacham trying to control but Klair is working from the bottom. Meacham should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Meacham keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Klair's head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Meacham controlling from the top position. Klair looking for a guillotine here but Meacham defends easily.

Klair drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Meacham regains half guard there - taking advantage of Klair's attempt to lay and pray for a moment. Klair is just content to waste time from the top position. Meacham takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Meacham has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Klair can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Klair trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Meacham has his hands on Klair's head, controlling the position. Klair wants to stand but Meacham has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Meacham wants to sweep here but Klair controlling him for the moment. Meacham is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Klair pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Meacham is keeping the position for now. Klair postures up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Meacham has a takedown stuffed. Klair gets a clinch. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Meacham fails to pull guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Klair pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Klair stuffs the takedown attempt from Meacham. Meacham gets slowly back to his feet. Jami Klair has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Barry Meacham. Klair misses with a takedown and Meacham counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Meacham postures up in Klair's guard and throws a big left but Klair blocks it. Meacham trying to control but Klair is working from the bottom. Jami Klair overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Klair is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Meacham throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Klair works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. No joy there for Meacham, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Meacham has eaten all the pies! Klair changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Klair closes the distance and clinches up with Meacham, looking for a takedown. Klair pushes Meacham against the cage but Meacham circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Meacham looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Meacham not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

That's one minute gone in the round. Meacham bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Klair's guard. Meacham trying to control the position from guard on top but Klair is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Klair is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Meacham content to stall in guard here. Meacham drops back looking for a leg! Klair is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Klair manages to kick Meacham off! Meacham jumps back into Klair's guard. Meacham sitting in guard here, content to control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Klair tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Meacham counters by clinching up. A left hand lands to the body for Klair.

Meacham drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. A quick uppercut on the inside from Klair. Meacham looking to throw knees to the head but Klair is blocking nicely.
Klair wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Meacham has him pressed against the cage. Meacham has a couple of punches blocked by Klair.
Klair wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Klair breaks the clinch.
Klair rushes Meacham and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Klair stops a takedown attempt from Meacham.
