Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mac Mclean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Dragon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Dragon has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mac Mclean!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Dragon!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, John Mangel and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dragon pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Dragon closes the distance and clinches.

Dragon has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Mclean is trying to keep an underhook but Dragon manages to get the takedown into half guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Mclean blocking the ground and pound attempt from Dragon.
Mclean is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Dragon's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Dragon's back!
Dragon is covering up but some of the strikes from Mclean are getting through and doing damage.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Mclean keeps control of the position as Dragon tries to break free.
Mclean could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Mclean is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
Dragon has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Mclean is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Mclean cracks Dragon with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Dragon from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.

Mclean is persistently looking for the submission but Dragon is defending it well.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Dragon is trying to get back to his feet. He's worked up on to his knees and now he's on his feet with his head on the canvas, trying to shake Mclean off. It looks like it's working - Mclean slides off, much to his dismay, and we're back to standing! Dragon displaying calm under pressure there.
Mclean misses with a series of wild punches.
Dragon pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Mclean back to the cage. Dragon follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.


It looks like Mac Mclean has been cut.

Mclean is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Dragon's half guard.
Dragon pushes Mclean off looking to stand but Mclean dives back in and keeps control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Dragon is pressing down on Mclean's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dragon fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Mclean sprawls well initially but Dragon persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Mclean looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Dragon is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Mclean is just riding it out for now. Dragon eventually gives up the hold.
Mclean scores with a few weak punches.
Mclean is trying is best to control the position here.
Mclean might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Dragon blocks the strikes from Mclean.

Dragon is looking for a kimura but Mclean is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Dragon to get the leverage.

Dragon wants to work for an arm triangle but Mclean is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Dragon closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Mclean to the mat! Mclean manages to get full guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Dragon drops back looking for a leg! Mclean is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Mclean manages to kick Dragon off! Dragon jumps back into Mclean's guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Dragon's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Dragon drops back, looking for a kneebar! Mclean looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Mclean looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Mclean!

Mclean tries for a kimura but Dragon is defending well.
Dragon is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Mclean off and has taken his back!

Dragon has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Mclean trying to control the hands but Dragon breaks the grip.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Dragon is trying to stick to Mclean's back but Mclean is turning into Dragon. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Dragon's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Mclean.
Mclean wants to stand but Dragon has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

A close second round but John Dragon will probably get the nod - 10:9.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!



Dragon closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Dragon working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Dragon takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Mclean will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Mclean has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dragon can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Dragon accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Dragon is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Mac Mclean overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Mclean is on the bottom, trying to hold on to half guard. He's throwing a few small shots here, to keep his opponent honest.
Mclean lands with a few short shots to the body.

Mclean manages to get to full guard.

Mclean is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Dragon postures up in Mclean's guard and throws a big left but Mclean blocks it.
John Dragon is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Mclean is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Mclean utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Mclean lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Mclean won't allow Dragon to get back to his feet.

Dragon working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mclean doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mclean manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Dragon has momentary wrist control but Mclean slips an elbow through the middle.
Mac Mclean has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mclean works over Dragon with some ground and pound from guard.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mac Mclean.
I think Dragon has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
