Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tom Banks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Deji Aldo!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, David Schapiro and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good leg kick by Aldo there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
A head kick by Banks misses
and Aldo counters with a nice body kick.
Aldo throws a head kick but Banks moves out of range.
Aldo misses with a head kick.
Banks goes for a double leg but Aldo avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Aldo continues to drive forward.
Aldo slowing the pace effectively.
Aldo's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Banks tries to score a power double leg takedown but Aldo sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Banks somewhat.
Aldo connects with an inside leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Aldo tries a head kick but it misses.
Aldo stuffs the takedown attempt from Banks. Banks gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tom Banks. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Aldo lands a big head kick that sends Banks tumbling to the mat! Aldo takes a step backwards and waves Banks back to his feet - he wants the finish!
It looks like Tom Banks has been cut.
That's one minute gone in the round.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Banks crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Aldo - the referee stops the clock and Banks gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Aldo. Banks manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Banks is breathing heavily.
Aldo scores with a jab to the body.
Banks has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Aldo.
Aldo connects with a leg kick. Banks looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Banks takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Aldo lands with a kick to the ribs.
Aldo connects with a right that clearly hurt Banks. He's backed up against the cage with nowhere to go as Aldo proceeds to tee off with vicious combinations till Banks collapses and taps out under the pressure!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Deji Aldo!
