Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mikko Hovimaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ross Peerson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Peerson's choice of entrance music: Good Feeling. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mikko Hovimaki! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Ross Peerson! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Peerson throws a combination that misses enabling Hovimaki to counter with a crisp jab. Peerson throws a nice looking combination but Hovimaki bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Nice body punch from Hovimaki. Peerson wants to clinch but Hovimaki slips to the side and Hovimaki cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Peerson slips a straight right by Hovimaki. Peerson swinging wildly here.
Peerson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hovimaki circles away quickly and effectively. Peerson throws a combination that misses enabling Hovimaki to counter with a crisp jab. Peerson attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Hovimaki blocks a low kick nicely. Peerson throws a left and a right that both miss
and Hovimaki counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Peerson dives in for a single leg takedown but Hovimaki sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Peerson goes for a takedown attempt but Hovimaki pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

letting Hovimaki counter with a right hand. Peerson goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Peerson misses with a double jab
and Hovimaki counters with a lovely shot to the body. Peerson fails with a takedown attempt. Mikko Hovimaki has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ross Peerson. Hovimaki lands a glancing blow to the side of Peerson's head. Hovimaki moves out of range of the strikes. Peerson scores with a one two! Hovimaki had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Peerson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Peerson is rocked! Peerson misses with a double jab
and Hovimaki makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Peerson is still on wobbly legs! Can Hovimaki finish him? Peerson looks winded! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hovimaki lands a big uppercut and this one is all over! His foe lies motionless on the canvas - a massive one punch knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Mikko Hovimaki! Mikko Hovimaki retains his lightweight title! After the fight, Mikko Hovimaki was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
