Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jerry Dale (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jhonny Mercer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jhonny Mercer will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jerry Dale! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jhonny Mercer! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Alexandre Firmino and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mercer shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Dale eats them both and turns towards Mercer to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
It looks like Jerry Dale has been cut. Mercer looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Mercer is looking for a kimura here.
Mercer seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dale blocking the ground and pound attempt from Mercer.
That's one minute gone in the round. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Mercer lands a nice short elbow. Dale really is a fat lump. Mercer trying to advance position but Dale counters by regaining guard. Mercer must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Mercer cracks Dale with a solid left hand. Mercer trying to control the position from guard on top but Dale is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Mercer might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Dale haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dale working for a triangle but Mercer defends it easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Dale is looking for a triangle but Mercer pushes his legs off easily.
Mercer wanted to stand there but Dale had control of the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Dale keeping moving, preventing Mercer from controlling successfully.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jhonny Mercer wasn't active enough on the ground. Mercer drives through with a takedown into Dale's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Mercer content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Dale has locked up a guillotine! Dale's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Mercer is holding on here and Dale must be using up a lot of energy. Mercer has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Dale gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
