Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Benny Dorsey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joshua Du Plooy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Benny Dorsey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Joshua Du Plooy!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Roger Salmon and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dorsey will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Du Plooy walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Dorsey checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Du Plooy tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Du Plooy tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Dorsey defends well and Du Plooy ends up having to push Dorsey into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Dorsey has Du Plooy pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Dorsey pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Du Plooy tumbling to the mat - Dorsey dives into Du Plooy's guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

We're going to have a standup here because Benny Dorsey wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Du Plooy dives in and grabs Dorsey's left leg, looking for a takedown. Dorsey pushes down on Du Plooy's head and hops out.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Du Plooy - that will leave a mark!
Du Plooy tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Dorsey paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Du Plooy throws a series of punches but Dorsey moves out of range.
Du Plooy changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Dorsey tries to avoid it but Du Plooy manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Dorsey to the ground. Dorsey escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Benny Dorsey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joshua Du Plooy.

and Dorsey decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Du Plooy's guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Benny Dorsey.

Du Plooy tries to bum rush Dorsey with a series of wild strikes but Dorsey uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Dorsey shoots in for a double leg but Du Plooy sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Du Plooy closes the distance and clinches up with Dorsey, looking for a takedown. Du Plooy pushes Dorsey against the cage but Dorsey circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Dorsey wants the takedown. Du Plooy is fighting it off but Dorsey persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Du Plooy's guard against the cage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Du Plooy pushes Dorsey off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Benny Dorsey will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Du Plooy shoots in looking for a takedown. Dorsey tries to sprawl out of it but Du Plooy keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Dorsey manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Du Plooy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dorsey swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dorsey is looking to stand up but Du Plooy isn't so interested in that idea.

Dorsey has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Du Plooy is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Dorsey.

Du Plooy tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Du Plooy has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Joshua Du Plooy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Dorsey seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Du Plooy for as long as he can get away with.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Dorsey is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Joshua Du Plooy comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Du Plooy has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
