Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Zach Burgandy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oscar Ruiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zach Burgandy could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Oscar Ruiz's chin.

The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burgandy tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Ruiz defends well and Burgandy ends up having to push Ruiz into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Ruiz is trying to force a seperation but Burgandy has the dominant position.

Ruiz tries to circle away but Burgandy has him pinned against the cage.

Burgandy drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Ruiz gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Ruiz tries to break free but Burgandy pushes him back against the cage.

Burgandy pulls guard effortlessly.
Burgandy pulls Ruiz in to control the position.
Ruiz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Burgandy swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Burgandy has his foot on Ruiz's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Ruiz works his way back into a safe position though.

Ruiz postures up in Burgandy's guard and throws a big left but Burgandy blocks it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Burgandy keeping moving, preventing Ruiz from controlling successfully.

Ruiz decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Burgandy, up you get!
Jab, jab by Ruiz - just one landing.
Ruiz connects with a crisp jab.
Ruiz fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Ruiz tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Ruiz is looking to clinch.
Ruiz tries to close the distance and clinch but Burgandy swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Burgandy gets a clinch.
Burgandy is trying to drag Ruiz to the mat but Ruiz just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Zach Burgandy. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ruiz drops down looking for an ankle pick but Burgandy pulls his leg out and moves away.

Ruiz tries to clinch but Burgandy is having none of it.

Ruiz throws a nice looking combination but Burgandy bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Burgandy avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Ruiz takes a swing at Burgandy's ribcage but misses.
Burgandy takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Burgandy looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ruiz is fending him off so far but Burgandy persists. Nope, Ruiz circles away and we're back to standing.
Ruiz connects with a right that clearly hurt Burgandy. He's backed up against the cage with nowhere to go as Ruiz proceeds to tee off with vicious combinations till Burgandy collapses and taps out under the pressure!
