The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alvarez throws a jab but it's blocked by Farmer. Alvarez scores with the left hand. Farmer knows he should have avoided that one.
It looks like Shawn Farmer has been cut. Farmer takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Farmer really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Alvarez swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Alvarez can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Farmer controls the pace. Farmer avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Alvarez had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Farmer defends it easily. Farmer controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alvarez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Farmer can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Alvarez pushes a forearm under Farmer's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Farmer is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ricky Alvarez! Ricky Alvarez got down on his knees post fight and begged the management for a title shot. 'Please, I want that title shot so bad! Give it to me!'
