PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rufus Bond (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Eric White has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rufus Bond!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Eric White!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

White has closed the distance and engaged Bond in a clinch.
White fails to pull the fight into his guard.
White looking to slow down the pace here.
Bond is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but White is keeping busy.
White's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

White breaks the clinch.
White darts in looking for a takedown but Bond gets double underhooks and turns White into the cage.

White has picked Bond up - he's going for a ride! White dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bond wants to get back to his feet.
White wants to pass to mount but Bond is defending the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bond is looking to control White's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Bond avoid being mounted?
White perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Bond manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. White keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.

White's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
White stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and White wants it to stay on the feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bond fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Bond gets caught flat footed, as White shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
White throws a big elbow that misses.
Bond will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
White stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bond swivels though and keeps the full guard.
White with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
White trying to control the position from guard on top but Bond is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells White's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
White stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bond swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
White wants to control from the top but Bond keeps moving.
Bond wants to get back to his feet but White is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
White must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
White postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
White sitting in guard, not really doing much.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Eric White was stalling too much, according to the referee.
White tries to clinch up.
White tries to clinch but Bond moves out of range.

White changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bond looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Bond wants to control but White postures up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bond stops White from passing to mount.
Bond wants to get back to his feet but White drags him back down.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eric White dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Bond tries to move into range but White moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
White shoots in looking for a takedown. Bond tries to sprawl out of it but White keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bond manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Bond really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Bond keeps the fight on the outside.

White shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Bond napping and manages to drive through into side control!


Bond is rocked!

White stands up.
Oh Bond is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Eric White seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

White closes the distance and clinches.

White gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Bond regains guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
White arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Bond's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Eric White!
