Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Santiago Diablo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Simon Petrikov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Santiago Diablo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Simon Petrikov! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Petrikov has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Diablo finds it's way round the side to connect with Petrikov's head. Diablo has a takedown stuffed. Petrikov jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
We've been hearing reports that Diablo has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Diablo fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Petrikov to the ground. Diablo is now in Petrikov's guard. Petrikov keeping moving, preventing Diablo from controlling successfully. Petrikov wants to sweep here but Diablo controlling him for the moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Diablo trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Diablo wants to control from the top but Petrikov keeps moving. Diablo passes into half guard. Petrikov is looking to control Diablo's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Petrikov avoid being mounted?
That's one minute gone in the round. Diablo is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Diablo works his way into side control. Diablo misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Petrikov wants to control but Diablo postures up. Diablo wants to control but Petrikov is keeping him busy. Petrikov is looking to reverse the position. Diablo wants to take a breather but Petrikov manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Diablo. Diablo tries to free his leg and advance position but Petrikov is retaining full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Petrikov wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Diablo trying to control but Petrikov is working from the bottom. Diablo drops back, looking for a kneebar! Petrikov looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Petrikov looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Petrikov! Petrikov working away. Petrikov wants to lay and pray for a moment but Diablo keeps working.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Diablo gets back to half guard. Diablo is trying to maintain the position but Petrikov is very close to passing his half guard. Diablo is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Petrikov wants to pass to mount but Diablo is defending the position. Petrikov is trying to control the action in half guard but Diablo is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Diablo is pressing down on Petrikov's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Diablo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Diablo keeping moving, preventing Petrikov from controlling successfully. Diablo might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Diablo looking to control but Petrikov passes into half guard.
Petrikov content to control rather than advance. Petrikov wants to lay and pray for a moment but Diablo keeps working. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Santiago Diablo dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Petrikov gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Petrikov is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Petrikov avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Diablo passes easily into side control. Nice work. You can see the frustration on Petrikov's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Diablo tries to advance to mount but Petrikov denies him. Petrikov dodges the ground and pound from Diablo. Santiago Diablo overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Diablo tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Diablo has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Diablo wants to control but Petrikov is keeping him busy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Diablo sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Petrikov is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Petrikov is trying to get back to half guard. Diablo is looking to take a break and control but Petrikov is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Petrikov is looking for a sweep. Diablo sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Petrikov is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Petrikov wants to control but Diablo postures up. Petrikov parries the strikes from Diablo easily there. Diablo is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Petrikov to escape.
Diablo is looking to take a break and control but Petrikov is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diablo thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Petrikov is not content to let Diablo control the position. Petrikov manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Diablo trying to control from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Petrikov seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Diablo does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Diablo manages to get to full guard.
Diablo is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Petrikov is aware though and is defending well. Diablo working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Petrikov has passed into half guard!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Diablo is looking to improve his position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Diablo is trying to maintain the position but Petrikov is very close to passing his half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Diablo manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Diablo looking for a sweep. Not yet Diablo, not yet. Diablo working a defensive guard here.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Diablo controls Petrikov momentarily but Petrikov frees himself. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Santiago Diablo dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!
Horrible takedown attempt by Diablo or perhaps it was just good defense by Petrikov, which made it look bad. A big left from Diablo misses. Diablo jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Diablo throws a right hand that misses
and Petrikov makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Diablo throws a poor cross that misses
and Petrikov counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Diablo avoids a kick to the body.
Petrikov misses with a body kick. Diablo swings widly with a right hand
and Petrikov counters with a nice uppercut. Petrikov swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Diablo missing with a left hand there. Petrikov was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
That's one minute gone in the round. Diablo connects with a right hand. Petrikov shakes it off. Petrikov ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Diablo moves away. Diablo rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Petrikov counters with a stiff right hand. Diablo misses with a straight left. Diablo changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Petrikov looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Diablo swings around for an armbar but Petrikov sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Diablo's guard. Diablo is looking for a triangle here but Petrikov uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Diablo is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Petrikov's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Diablo trying to control here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Petrikov trying to control the action but Diablo is working from the bottom. Diablo keeping control of the position. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Diablo wants to improve his position but Petrikov is controlling well.
Diablo trying to get back to full guard but Petrikov takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount! Santiago Diablo is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Diablo tries to hold on but Petrikov postures up. Diablo has given up his back here.
My spies in Outer Heaven Dojo - PIT Inc. inform me that Petrikov has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Petrikov is not going to allow Diablo to sit and survive in this position.

And that's the end of the fight! Santiago Diablo showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Diablo, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
