Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nic Bravo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Geo Branbo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nic Bravo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Geo Branbo!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Skip Squint and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Left hook, right uppercut from Branbo.


It looks like Nic Bravo has been cut.
Bravo fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Branbo with a poor takedown

and Bravo counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Bravo working over Branbo with some ground and pound. Branbo looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Bravo is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Branbo defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Bravo.
Branbo looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Branbo is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Branbo is keeping busy.

Bravo working for a choke but Branbo is defending well.

Bravo is breathing heavily.

Bravo has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Branbo has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Branbo manages to reverse the position and now he's in Bravo's guard. Nice work there by Branbo.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Branbo gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Branbo scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Branbo has his takedown stuffed

and Bravo counters with a takedown into side control.
Bravo wants to control but Branbo is keeping him busy.
Branbo wants to control but Bravo postures up.

Bravo thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Branbo sneaks back into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Branbo tries to roll over but Bravo keeps him under control.
Branbo is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Bravo's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Bravo's back!
Bravo staying busy and making it hard for Branbo to control.
Bravo manages to reverse the position and now he's in Branbo's guard. Nice work there by Bravo.

Bravo is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Branbo looking to control.
Branbo can't keep his opponent in guard - Bravo advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Bravo is looking to take a break and control but Branbo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Branbo kicks off Bravo and gets to his feet.

Bravo changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Branbo looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Branbo tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Bravo wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Branbo tries to escape but Bravo is in control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Branbo misses with a strike from the bottom.
Bravo is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Branbo will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Bravo lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nic Bravo dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Nic Bravo's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Bravo throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Branbo keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Branbo gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Bravo postures up in Branbo's guard and throws a big left but Branbo blocks it.
Bravo stands up over Branbo, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Bravo is pushing down on Branbo's leg trying to pass to half guard. Branbo is fighting to maintain full guard but Bravo has managed to sneak the leg through.
Bravo thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Branbo's head.
Bravo trying to control from half guard but Branbo is working away.
Bravo is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Branbo is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Branbo looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Bravo looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bravo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Branbo keeps working.

Branbo looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Bravo slips a nice elbow through Branbo's hands, connecting with Branbo's forehead.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Branbo is looking to clinch.
A clash of legs there as Branbo blocks the low kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Bravo shoots for a takedown but Branbo saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
A slow jab from Bravo misses its intended target.
Geo Branbo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Bravo closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Bravo is trying to ground and pound but Branbo uses the momentary lack of control by Bravo to regain half guard.
Bravo is tying to control. Branbo wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Branbo is trying to control but can't.
Branbo avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Bravo.
Branbo blocking the ground and pound attempt from Bravo.

Bravo wants to pass to mount but Branbo is defending the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Branbo fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bravo sprawls well initially but Branbo persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Bravo has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Branbo. Oh but Bravo has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Branbo goes limp - he's gone! Bravo jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Nic Bravo!
