Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eddie Kilpatrick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Downes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Matt Downes! The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Michael Johnstone and Dirk Anderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Downes fails with the takedown and Kilpatrick makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Downes misses with a takedown and Kilpatrick counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Downes tries for a takedown. No joy.
Eddie Kilpatrick has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matt Downes. A nice right hand lands inside from Kilpatrick. Kilpatrick digs a right hand underneath Downes's ribcage. Downes let out a lung full of air as it connected. Kilpatrick has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Downes uses from the top position. Kilpatrick looking to hit a scissor sweep but Downes is one step ahead there. Kilpatrick controlling the position. The ref stands the fighters back up because Eddie Kilpatrick just wasn't active enough. Downes tries for a takedown but Kilpatrick circles away easily so Kilpatrick counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Kilpatrick pushes down on Downes's leg and manages to get into half guard. Downes has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kilpatrick is working away from the top position though. Kilpatrick knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Downes on the ground. Downes looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Kilpatrick looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Downes looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Kilpatrick really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. It looks like Kilpatrick is going to stand back up.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Downes looking for submissions off his back. Kilpatrick takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Kilpatrick drops an elbow to the side of Downes's head. Downes is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Kilpatrick jumps into side control! Kilpatrick landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Downes gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Kilpatrick will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. The fighters are battling for position here. Downes manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Downes is looking for a triangle but Kilpatrick pushes his legs off easily.

Kilpatrick is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Downes is trying to control the position but Kilpatrick postures up. Downes working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kilpatrick doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Downes is tightening it up a little... Kilpatrick has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Kilpatrick reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Kilpatrick taps out! Nice BJJ there by Downes!
