PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kip Morgan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Captain Jack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kip Morgan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Captain Jack!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Daniel Franklin and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morgan thows a left - swing and a miss!

Morgan forces Jack back against the cage and clinches.
Jack can't break the clinch.

Morgan pulls Jack into guard.
Morgan has Jack pulled in close to control his posture.
Jack sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Morgan's guard.
Morgan on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Morgan tries to get out of the position.
Jack tries to pass the half guard into mount. Morgan knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Jack seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Morgan does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Jack wants to stand up but Morgan has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Jack prevents Morgan from standing back up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jack is trying to control. Morgan wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Captain Jack wasn't active enough on the ground.
A head kick misses from Jack.
Morgan throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jack tries to clinch there but Morgan circles away.
Jack shoots in for a takedown but Morgan shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Jack is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Jack fails in his attempt to clinch.
Morgan throws a head kick but Jack moves out of range.

Morgan moves into range and clinches up with Jack.

Morgan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Morgan fails with an attempt to clinch.
Jack moves in looking to clinch but Morgan pushes him off.
Jack tries to clinch but Morgan moves out of range.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Morgan.
Jack wants to control but Morgan postures up.
Morgan controls the position from side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Morgan throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Jack works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Morgan not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Morgan is trying to control the action in half guard but Jack is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Jack regains full guard. Nicely done.
Morgan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jack swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Jack looking to hit a scissor sweep but Morgan is one step ahead there.
Morgan distracts Jack with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Jack manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Jack's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Jack stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jack tries to land a front kick but Morgan steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Captain Jack will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Morgan throws a series of punches but Jack moves out of range.
No joy there for Morgan, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Morgan throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Jack tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Morgan is in Jack's guard.

Jack looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jack pulls Morgan in close to his closed guard and prevents Morgan from doing any damage or advancing position.
Morgan with a nice head shot there.
Morgan looking to sit in guard and control but Jack gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Jack pushes down on Morgan's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Jack passes to full mount!
Jack tries to control but Morgan wriggling away.
Morgan is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Morgan wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Jack.

Jack can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Morgan is looking to escape.
Morgan is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Morgan is squirming around, avoiding Jack's attempts to control the action.
Jack sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Morgan keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Jack trying to control but Morgan is having none of it.
Jack takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Morgan tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Morgan tries to hold on but Jack postures up.
Morgan is squirming around, avoiding Jack's attempts to control the action.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
BOOM! Jack connects with a massive shot to the dome!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Captain Jack showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Morgan avoids a punch combination nicely.
Jack closes the distance looking to clinch
and Morgan counters with a straight right hand.

and Morgan counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

and Morgan counters with a head kick that drops Jack - he's looking to finish, following his stunned foe to the ground!
Kip Morgan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Captain Jack.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jack regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Morgan.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Morgan's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Jack is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Morgan is aware though and is defending well.
Captain Jack has got the better of the ground game so far.

Jack will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Jack wants to stand but Morgan is controlling the position.
Morgan is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Jack has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Morgan can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Jack is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Jack content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Kip Morgan has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Morgan is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kip Morgan showed his dominance in that final round.
