PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Adam Nowak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Wolfar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ivan Wolfar will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Adam Nowak!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ivan Wolfar!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Anni Minnemäki and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nowak slips under a jab.
Nowak moves out of range of the strikes.
Ivan Wolfar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wolfar digs a good hook to Nowak's body.

Nowak gets a takedown into half guard.
Wolfar is trying to escape back to his feet but Nowak uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Wolfar trying to remain calm as Nowak controls from the top position.
Nowak advances nicely into full mount.
Wolfar is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

Nowak is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Wolfar has managed to escape the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wolfar is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nowak with shots to the head and body - Wolfar looks very uncomfortable down there.
Nowak tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Nowak scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Wolfar?
Wolfar really wants to buck Nowak off and get back to his feet.
Nowak controlling the position easily from mount.
Nowak has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Nowak is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wolfar throws the left hand but Nowak avoids the punch easily.
Ivan Wolfar is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Nowak shoots in and gets a takedown into Wolfar's guard.
Nowak passes Wolfar's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Wolfar is trying to stand.

Nowak stands up out of the half guard.

Nowak shoots in and bounces Wolfar off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Wolfar is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Nowak is controlling him.
Nowak not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Wolfar can do anything to dispel that myth.

Nowak gets to his feet. Wolfar looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Nowak tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Wolfar swivels and escapes.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nowak changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Wolfar tries to avoid it but Nowak manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Wolfar to the ground. Wolfar escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jab by Wolfar.
Wolfar missing with a left hand there. Nowak was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
A slow jab from Wolfar misses its intended target.

Nowak changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Wolfar looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nowak decides to stand back up. Nowak steps back and let's Wolfar get back to his feet.

Nowak drives through and clinches with Wolfar against the cage.

Nowak has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Wolfar is trying to keep an underhook but Nowak manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Wolfar is trying to stand back up but Nowak is controlling him
Wolfar felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Nowak is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Wolfar sees it coming and defends easily.

Nowak stands up out of the half guard.
Nowak throws a series of punches but Wolfar moves out of range.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nowak slips under a jab from Wolfar.
Wolfar jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Wolfar throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Nowak on the side of the head.


It looks like Adam Nowak has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Nowak tries to clinch up.
Wolfar moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.


Nowak is rocked!
Wolfar lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Nowak at a distance.
Oh Nowak is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Nowak is breathing heavily.
Nowak leaves his chin hanging out and Wolfar seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Nowak crumbles to the floor in a heap! The referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Ivan Wolfar!
