Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ragnar Lodbrok (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tony Soprano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lodbrok kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Glory and Gore. Soprano comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Woke Up This Morning kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tony Soprano!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Josh West and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lodbrok drives through with a takedown into guard.
Lodbrok is in close to Soprano's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Lodbrok postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Lodbrok throws a big right hand that misses.
Soprano is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Lodbrok throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Lodbrok throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Soprano works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Soprano wants to sweep here but Lodbrok controlling him for the moment.
Soprano told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Lodbrok tries to score a power double leg takedown but Soprano sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Lodbrok somewhat.

We've been hearing that Lodbrok has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Lodbrok wants to lay and pray for a moment but Soprano keeps working.

Lodbrok looks up at the clock and then as Soprano takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Lodbrok smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Soprano wants to get back to his feet but Lodbrok drags him back down.
Lodbrok postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
The strikes coming from Lodbrok are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Lodbrok lands a few punches from side control.
Soprano dodges the ground and pound from Lodbrok.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Soprano can do anything to dispel that myth.

Soprano tries to buck Lodbrok off but Lodbrok is having none of it.
Lodbrok misses with the ground and pound.
Soprano really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lodbrok. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Soprano takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Lodbrok connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Soprano some visible discomfort.
Lodbrok throws a strike aimed at the side of Soprano's head but Soprano avoids it well.

Soprano tries to buck Lodbrok off but Lodbrok is having none of it.

Soprano takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Lodbrok looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Soprano is avoiding damage well.
Lodbrok scores with a couple of short elbows.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lodbrok throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
The strikes coming from Lodbrok are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Lodbrok creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ragnar Lodbrok dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Soprano lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Lodbrok throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Soprano's waist but Soprano gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lodbrok off to one side.
Lodbrok changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Soprano tries to avoid it but Lodbrok manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Soprano to the ground. Soprano escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Lodbrok darts in looking for a takedown but Soprano gets double underhooks and turns Lodbrok into the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ragnar Lodbrok. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Soprano escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Lodbrok is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Soprano can do to turn this around?
Nice sprawl there from Soprano as Lodbrok shoots in.
Soprano lands with a kick to the temple. Lodbrok shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"


It looks like Ragnar Lodbrok has been cut.
Lodbrok is trying hard to land a takedown here. Soprano sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Lodbrok looks to land a left hand but Soprano moved out of range nicely.
Lodbrok shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Soprano as he jumps to the side.

and Soprano counters with a nice body kick.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Soprano feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Lodbroks jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Soprano steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Lodbrok.
Lodbrok will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Soprano throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Ragnar Lodbrok seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Soprano drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Lodbrok right on the button. Lodbrok goes down! Soprano follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Soprano gets the win via TKO!
