Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alex Charette! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Warren Parker! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Gregory Folan and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Parker walks forward, straight into a front kick from Charette. Charette shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Parker but Parker pushes him off and we're back to square one. Charette shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Parker looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Charette trying to control but Parker is working from the bottom. Parker controlling the position. Charette tries to free his leg and advance position but Parker is retaining full guard. Charette being controlled here momentarily.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Charette dives in and grabs Parker's left leg, looking for a takedown. Parker pushes down on Charette's head and hops out.
That's one minute gone in the round. Charette throws a body kick, spinning off balance and Parker counters with a shoot takedown. Charette fights it but they end up in guard. Parker wants to control from the top but Charette keeps moving. Charette is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Parker defends well. Charette could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Parker is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Charette has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Parker can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Parker slips nicely into half guard. Charette trying to control here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Parker is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Charette! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Parker tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Charette is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Parker working for a guillotine from mount but Charette is in no mood to give up. Charette tries to hold on but Parker postures up. Parker wants to take Charette's back but he can't do it this time. Charette is trying to escape the mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Parker controlling the pace for now. Charette wants to get back to his feet.
Parker trying to control but Charette is having none of it. Parker takes Charette's back. Parker biding his time, controlling Charette. Charette is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Parker gets his way!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Charette wants to get back to his feet. Parker is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Good control from Parker. Charette fending off the submission attempt from Parker. Charette wants to get back to his feet. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Parker trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Charette doesn't escape. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Charette fails with the takedown and Parker counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Parker is trying to control. Charette wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Parker keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Parker looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Charette is looking to escape. Parker wants to free his trapped foot but Charette is holding on for dear life with his legs. Charette is staying active underneath Parker, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Charette is in trouble now - Parker has advanced to mount! Parker fails to take his opponent's back. Parker takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Let's hope that Parker has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Parker's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Parker goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Charette is on top in guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Charette working some strikes from top position. Parker trying to control the position here. Charette wants to pass the guard but Parker is keeping the position.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Warren Parker wasn't active enough on the ground. Sloppy strikes from Charette. Those never looked like landing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Charette darts in looking for a takedown but Parker gets double underhooks and turns Charette into the cage. Parker drags the fight down to the ground.
Charette has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Charette would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Parker is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Parker is on top in guard.
Parker advances to half guard. Parker wants to work for an arm triangle but Charette is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Charette is trying to stand.

Parker controlling the action here. Parker is keen to just control but Charette is a slippery customer. Charette looking for submissions off his back. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Parker seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Charette looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Warren Parker showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Parker is looking to clinch. Parker blocks a head kick by Charette.
Charette throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Parker closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Charette is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Parker asserts his dominance and retains side control. Parker is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Charette is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Parker is trying to get an arm triangle but Charette is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Parker tries for a kimura but Charette is defending well. Charette tries to improve position but can't. Parker advances nicely into full mount. Charette is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Charette stops Parker from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better. Parker controlling from mount. Parker moves to the back position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Parker is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Charette knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Charette for a finish. Charette can't escape the position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Charette preventing the rear naked choke attempt from Parker. Charette has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke. Parker is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Charette has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Parker has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Charette taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Parker doesn't care though - he's delighted!
