PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Aronoff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leif Jaatinen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Aronoff might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Here Comes the Pain by Slayer. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mark Aronoff!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Leif Jaatinen!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Ren Mimura and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from Jaatinen does no damage.
Aronoff takes one to the side of the head.
Jaatinen misses the shot to the body.

Jaatinen tries to keep at a distance but Aronoff has taken the fight into the clinch.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Jaatinen is trying to break the clinch but Aronoff has him pressed against the ropes.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jaatinen can do anything to dispel that myth.

Aronoff is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Jaatinen can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Aronoff has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Jaatinen wants to use the ropes to get back to his feet here.

Jaatinen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Aronoff. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Aronoff here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Aronoff has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jaatinen can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Jaatinen throws a lazy right hand but Aronoff sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Jaatinen throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A slow jab from Jaatinen misses its intended target.
Jaatinen throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Aronoff.
Jaatinen throws a hook to the side of Aronoff's head but Aronoff sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Aronoff darts in and clinches Jaatinen up against the ropes.
Jaatinen takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Aronoff pulls guard.
Aronoff controls Jaatinen momentarily but Jaatinen frees himself.

Aronoff has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Jaatinen doesn't defend quickly enough and Aronoff has managed to lock this one up! Can Jaatinen escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Aronoff on a fantastic submission victory.
