Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Dereck Catone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gabriel Torres (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dereck Catone! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Gabriel Torres! The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Ryoma Takatsuka and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Catone shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Torres pinned against the cage. Torres gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. A solid leg kick lands there for Torres.
Catone throws a head kick that misses. Catone fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Torres sprawls well initially but Catone persists and gets the takedown into half guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Catone sitting and controlling from the half guard. Torres is trying to stand up here but Catone is controlling him well. Catone trying to mount his opponent but Torres defends it. Catone is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Torres doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Catone. Catone slows the pace down in half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Catone wants to pass the guard but Torres is defending well. Catone passes to full mount! Catone controlling the pace for now. Torres is trying to stand up. Torres really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Catone. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Catone looking to control and managing it successfully. Catone is in the full mount, landing strikes. Catone lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Torres hang on? Torres is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Catone is working for a guillotine from mount but Torres frees his head quite easily.
Catone takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Torres is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Catone lands a big shot there that rocks Torres but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Catone jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Torres is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Torres and Catone has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Catone cracks Torres with an elbow. That is naaassty. Catone has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Catone in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Catone controlling from side mount. Torres pushes Catone away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Catone gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Catone controlling the position from side mount. Catone thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Catone is staying tight to Torres's torso, preventing him from escaping. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Wait, no, Torres rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Catone's guard! Nice work there by Torres! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dereck Catone dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Torres wants to clinch. Torres looks to land a body kick but Catone moved away. Catone has closed the distance and engaged Torres in a clinch.
Torres tries to score a body lock takedown but Catone shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Torres wants to break free but Catone has control.
Torres is trying to force a seperation but Catone has the dominant position. Catone throws a head punch that misses. Catone is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Torres is keeping busy. Torres gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Catone.

Catone tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Torres smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dereck Catone. That's going to take a lot out of him. Torres wants to clinch up but Catone keeps it at a distance. Catone shoots in but Torres avoids the takedown attempt easily. Torres tries to close the distance and clinch but Catone swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Torres pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Catone back to the cage. Torres follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
It looks like Dereck Catone has been cut. Catone misses with a combination
and Torres counters with a crisp one two that drops Catone! Torres thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Catone to his feet! Catone is in big trouble!
Catone is rocked! Dereck Catone is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Torres throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Catone. Torres scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Oh Catone is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Torres lands a lovely overhand right. Catone shoots for a takedown but Torres saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Torres wants to clinch up but Catone keeps it at a distance. Torres lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Catone shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Torres as he jumps to the side. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Catone seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Torres shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Catone is backing up but Torres catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Catone covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Torres Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gabriel Torres!
