Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ruud Gullit! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Honza Kucera! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Paul Gruel and Micheangelo Fripello.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kucera closes this distance looking for a takedown but Gullit circles away. A lazy left from Gullit finds it's target. Ruud Gullit seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gullit stuffs the takedown attempt from Kucera. Kucera gets slowly back to his feet. Kucera shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Gullit defends it nicely. Ruud Gullit has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Honza Kucera. Gullit misses with a jab, cross combination.
Gullit has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Xtreme Fight Club (best in Amsterdam) in the buildup to the fight. Gullit goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
It looks like Honza Kucera has been cut. A punch combination from Gullit misses. Gullit jabbing away but nothing is landing. Gullit throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Gullit lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Sloppy strikes from Gullit. Those never looked like landing. Gullit misses with a straight left.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gullit throws a right and a left that Kucera avoids nicely. Gullit misses with a two punch combination.

so Kucera counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Gullit working for a triangle but Kucera defends it easily.
Gullit is trying to control the position but Kucera postures up. Kucera trying to control but Gullit is working from the bottom. Kucera won't allow Gullit to sweep him here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gullit keeping full guard, as Kucera tries to pass. Gullit looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Kucera thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Kucera trying to control but Gullit is working from the bottom. Kucera preventing the sweep. Gullit is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kucera is controlling him. Kucera drops back looking for a leg! Gullit is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gullit manages to kick Kucera off! Kucera jumps back into Gullit's guard. Gullit is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. A combination from Gullit does no damage. Gullit misses with a combination
and Kucera counters with a single leg into guard. Gullit didn't expect that. Kucera trying to control the position from guard on top but Gullit is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. My spies in Hilo Training Center inform me that Kucera has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Kucera is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gullit looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gullit is looking to stand up but Kucera isn't so interested in that idea. Kucera drops back looking for a leg! Gullit is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gullit manages to kick Kucera off! Kucera jumps back into Gullit's guard. Gullit has control of Kucera's left arm, preventing Kucera from doing any damage. Kucera advances position into side control! Gullit wants to get back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ruud Gullit dominated that round. The cut man is working on Honza Kucera's cut. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Kucera closes this distance looking for a takedown but Gullit circles away. Gullit rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kucera moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Gullit is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kucera can do to turn this around? Gullit waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Kucera. Kucera takes a swing at Gullit's ribcage but misses. Gullit slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Nice uppercut there from Gullit. Gullit throws a combination that misses and Kucera counters with a takedown into side control. Gullit tries to bench press Kucera off him but Kucera keeps the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kucera tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Kucera has hold of Gullit's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Gullit tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Kucera cranks the arm and Gullit screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Gullit, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Honza Kucera! Honza Kucera is the new bantamweight champion!
