The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Valeri Chadov and Illya Tyunina.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Veretovski shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Ellison counters by moving into the clinch.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Ellison misses with a hook from the clinch.
Ellison tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Veretovski avoids it.
Veretovski wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Ellison misses with a punch to the body.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Ellison pushes Veretovski off and scrambles back to his feet.

and Ellison counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Ellison seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.
Ellison landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Veretovski is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Ellison pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Pasquale Ellison has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Masuk Veretovski.

Ellison has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Veretovski uses from the top position.
Ellison is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Veretovski thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Ellison knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Veretovski on the ground.
Ellison is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Veretovski pulls his head out easily.

Veretovski is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Ellison is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
