The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Katona tries to bum rush Bryers with a series of wild strikes but Bryers uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Bryers looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Bryers looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Bryers looking for a guillotine from mount but Katona is having none of it.
Katona really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Bryers jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Katona is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Katona and Bryers has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bryers has hold of Katona's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Katona tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Bryers cranks the arm and Katona screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Katona, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
