PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ron Paul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hans Lankari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Lankari's choice of entrance music: AC/DC - Thunderstruck. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 11 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ron Paul!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Hans Lankari!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Daniel Blasius and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paul stuffs the takedown.
Lankari throws a one two combo.

Lankari gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Paul just misses with a elbow thrown towards Lankari's brow.
Lankari wants to break the clinch but can't.
Lankari stalling in the clinch but Paul improves position.
Lankari avoids a wild elbow strike from Paul.
Lankari tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Paul smiles and moves away.
Lankari misses with a takedown attempt - Paul sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Paul gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Paul lands an elbow that stopped Lankari in his tracks for a moment.
Lankari has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Paul is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Hans Lankari seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Paul drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Paul jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Paul got a little sloppy there for a moment and Lankari has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Paul has managed to get both his arms back between Lankari's legs - danger averted.

Paul postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Paul is landing with some decent strikes but Lankari is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Lankari is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Paul goes for an armbar but Lankari turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Lankari.

Lankari decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Paul, up you get!

Paul gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Lankari regains guard.
Paul wants to pass the guard but Lankari is keeping the position.
Lankari is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
